Lyle drove for a little while until they reached the house it was a common suburban house with nothing too remarkable about it. Lyle glanced at the front door from his car before he opened the door and joined Alessandra who left the car before he did. “My pleasure” - he said extending his hand with a small bow before they started walking towards the house. Lyle used that joke too much but, he felt as if there was something genuine to the gesture this time, like he actually wanted to impress her with gentleman ways. It was an odd sensation that did not last too long.
Mostly, because both of them started running towards the house; having heard a scream coming from within. Suddenly the door was flung open by some force from inside the house. Lyle did not have much time to react because the next thing that happened was that a screaming frightened girl came out running and slammed herself against Lyle. Lyle barely caught her in his arms and almost fell down through the door steps but, he managed to keep his balance. And then a hand was slapping his face and the girl was squirming and screaming beneath his arms.
“Whoa!” - Lyle closed his eyes scrunched his nose and tried to control the girl reminding himself not to harm her as she was obviously a frightened civilian. Though, he came very close to slap her, a couple of times. Alessandra finally managed to control the girl and she started crying and clinging to him. Lyle felt very awkward about all and simply gave her a few paths on the back. Lyle kept quiet while Alessandra talked to the girl because he didn’t want to upset her again and the huntress seemed to know how to calm her down.
When the girl finally stepped away Lyle fixed his tie and remained serious listening to the conversation. Alessandra and Lyle looked into each other when the girl spoke of the intruder. Lyle simply raised an eyebrow and thought this alone would merit further research and wondered if ‘she’ was still inside in the backyard. Finally, it was Alessa the one who decided to enter the house and look for the culprit. “All right, howl out if you find in trouble, I will be ready.” - He said with a nod and a quick smile then he directed his attention to Rebecca.
Lyle let out a weary sigh catching a glimpse of Alessandra disappearing from his view. The girl seemed pretty shaken down and scared, Lyle felt a bit of pity for her. These kinds of things were hard on the civilians. “Look, let’s start this easy, why don’t you sit down here and tell me what happened?” - He said motioning to the steps with his hand conjuring the warmest smile he was able to pull off under the circumstances. He even lead her with a hand laid on her back until she sat. Lyle sat next to her and added: “Don’t worry it’s ok just tell me what happened.”
“I .. I ju-just…” - The girl broke into tears and shook her head unable to finish the sentence. Lyle once again directed a couple of gentle paths to her back. “My partner is going to have a look anyway, so you might as well tell me the truth.” - He said with a soft voice, he hoped that the prospect of another person knowing too, would put her doubts at ease. As a hunter it was very common for him to run into people wary to tell their stories in fear of becoming the targets of mockery. She looked at Lyle with big puffy eyes and he nodded in reply.
I.. It was me… I mean it looked like me… but I am me a-and - she said with an unsure voice between tears. Lyle made a thinking sound and rubbed his chin with one hand the girl has seen herself; could it be a doppelganger case? It was rather uncommon; no, maybe it was something else. You think I’m crazy right? - She said letting out a sob at the end of that question. Lyle rose and eyebrow, his mind coming back to reality. “Huh, no” - He laughed - “Not at all”.
Lyle cleared his throat and dug in his pocket for his fake FBI ID showing it to Rebecca to remind her. “The red haired with me is my partner. We are investigating this one, as you can see it holds interest for the government” - he added with a small nod. Lyle briefly smiled noticing how the girl had stopped crying and was just really surprised. Maybe, she was too surprised that an FBI special agent believed her wacky tale right off the bat. It held no major issue for Lyle as he had run into the FBI in the past.
Or she probably was surprised that Alessandra who didn’t look quite like an FBI agent was one. Lyle could understand why. She looked more like a cloak and dagger character that belonged as the sexy femme fatale spy. What? No, she was a hunter. She was good looking but... that was beside the point. Lyle tucked the ID back in the inside pocket of his suit and took out his notebook and a pen. “So, if I get what you said correctly this also happened to that Chris boy. Tell me now about that and please don’t leave any part of the story out as it may be important.”
