THE LIGHTS IN OUR HANDS: THREAD INFORMATION
General Location: Boston, Massachusetts Specific Building: Catalina Bar & Grill Special Event: Entertainment; Live Music and Magic Night! The Catalina Bar & Grill overflowed with customers who were ushered into dark stained wooden chairs with tables draped in white linen and accented with the restaurant's personal menu. Each table had been fully occupied and when they had emptied it wasn't long for them to refill. For Lucas and Ezra today was going to be a day that drenched them with financial fortune and heavily freckled the night with fits of laughter and fun. Even backstage, where the boys patiently waited to start their gig, they found themselves quietly chatting amongst themselves in the "Entertainer Room" as they sipped on their water. The room itself had been small but was sufficient enough to hold a total of 4 people comfortably. It wasn't as sophisticated as the restaurant itself but it provided the entertainers a comfortable place to sleep, a fridge of free food, and a television that had been hooked to a surveillance camera that overlooked the crowed just in-front of the stage. The television's audio was also hooked in such a manner that the entertainers in the "Entertainer Room" could only hear the music or voices of whoever is on stage. In this moment it had been the manager greeting his customers and wishing them well. "--Yeah, I was telling him about how he could have used the cord as a substitute but he didn't seem like he liked the idea," Ezra said rather nonchalantly as he lets his fingers drum against his glass of water. He had been wearing a white button up shirt that had been neatly tucked into black jeans and accompanied by equally black shoes. Along with this his hair had been neatly groomed, face freshly shaved, and he had the a deep and yet lovely scent lightly surrounding him. "Well," Lucas began "He doesn't have to use it but I know he'd prefer it. Otherwise, I don't see it lasting long." He glances over to Ezra and grins adding "Watch him call you back asking for the cords again." Ezra's chuckles brightly and and shook his head as his companion brings the glass of water to his lips and takes a few more sips. Lucas' attire had been similar but noticeably different than Ezra's. He sported a nicely fitted vest and a slouched knitted beanie that matched his outfit perfectly along with a clear spritz of deep but delightful cologne. For fifteen minutes they talked idly of their clients and friends as they continued to wait for their time to preform. At this moment a woman had made her way onto stage and the speakers to the TV had come to life. She was beautiful, absolutely elegant, and she grasped everyone's attention--even Ezra and Lucas. Their conversation was placed on hold as they watched her start her performance. They didn't utter a word as she began and instead they focused on the food and drink, watching her in just as much intrest as the crowd who had been instantly compelled to not only her but her craft.

There was always that brief moment before a performance where Alessandra thought about turning around and leaving the building. She really wasn’t sure why such thoughts would present themselves right before she went on stage, but it was something she had gotten used to. Once Alessa was actually out there and the first words of the song came forth from her mouth, whatever anxiety or apprehension she felt previously melted away and she lost herself in the music. Whenever opportunities like this were in her grasp Alessandra didn’t hesitate to go after them if she was able to. Being a hunter was her life and she wouldn’t change it for anything, but she needed a break every now and then if she wanted to keep her sanity. Music was the perfect outlet for that.
So when the gig at Catalina Bar and Grill in Boston had presented itself, Alessandra had jumped all over it. Even though she wasn’t a professional singer or with any kind of label, she had performed at places all over the US and they weren’t that hard to come by. Sometimes the manager had already heard of her from some friend or by word of mouth, the latter being the case in this instance. When Alessandra was introduced, she stepped out onto the stage in a stunning red dress and flower in her hair and shook the managers’ hand with a friendly smile. Then after a few words to the crowd, the music started up and she began to sing. The brilliant smile on her face and her body language made it very apparent that she loved what she did, and the crowd was captivated by the performance. Even though Alessa performed covers of songs, they were still beautifully done and she added her own personal flair and sound to each one.
After her set, Alessandra graciously thanks the crowd for being so amazing and exits the stage with a wave. She watches the manager approach looking very pleased and he tells her that he really enjoyed her performance and hopes she would considering coming back in the future. Alessa smiles a little and thanks him, and says it would be her pleasure to return sometime. After a few more polite words, he tells her to help herself to anything in the Entertainer’s Room and they part ways. Alessandra makes her way through the backstage area and enters the room that the manager mentioned, looking forward to a drink of cold water. Her blue green gaze falls onto the room’s inhabitants, two nicely dressed and good looking men who Alessa guessed must be the next act.
A friendly smile shows on her fair features and she offers a small wave toward the two men as she heads toward the fridge. “Hello there…” She opens the fridge and reaches inside for a bottle of water, then makes her way to a chair across from the two men and gracefully sits down. “So you guys must be the next act...going to be performing some magic I hear?” She unscrews the cap on her water bottle and takes a long drink as the adrenaline she always felt after a performance starts to fade away. A light sigh escapes her lips after the drink and she screws the cap back on. “I have to say, I’m really looking forward to watching that.” She turns slightly to look at the television screen as the manager is heard speaking again and vaguely wonders what they thought about her performance as she turns back to face them once more, a small smile on her face.

The woman, who the magicians later found out is named Alessandra, had eventually made her exit and gave the stage to the manager. He clapped in delight and immediately adjusted the microphone to fit his height before speaking to the pleasantly entertained crowd who continued to clap long after the musician's leave. Ezra and Lucas paid no mind to the manager's words and turned their attention to the other male in the room, in means of continuing their previous conversation. However, their intentions were put on hold when the woman from the stage enters the room with her eyes landing directly on the pair. At first, their reaction had been delayed with Ezra leaning over to set his glass on the small table and Lucas pulling back his beanie to idly scratch at the top of his head making his short hair look far more unruly than it already had. Despite their delay, in unison they gazed up to the woman their expressions different and yet very much alike. The younger of the magicians gives Alessandra a toothy grin as he leans back on the furniture while the eldest gives a closed mouth and more subtle version all while slipping his beanie back onto his head and hiding his unruly hair. When she waves in greeting they both mirror her actions and watch as she makes her way to the fridge.
Two pairs of brown eyes scan the redhead's figure and quickly dart themselves away as soon as she turns to face them. They remain nonchalant as they, again, look back to Alessandra who is making her way to the chair in front of them as she questions if they are the magicians for the next act. She gives them time to speaks as she unscrews the cap of her water bottle and drinks from it as if to incredibly parched. As usual Ezra decides to be the first to speak letting his Boston accent lay heavy in his words "Yea, you got that right. We're heading up there in 'bout-" he pauses as he pulls back his sleeve to look down at his watch "-twenty maybe thirty minutes." The woman lets out a light sigh and adds that she's "looking forward to watching it." As she turns to look at the television screen the magicians glance over at one another with smug grins. Lucas leans back in his spot and lifts a leg, setting his ankle on the opposing knee as Ezra speaks again. "You sounded real good up there. I was sittin' here thinkin' "Damn, does this chick have an album or somthin'?" Lucas, who's eyes had been watching Ezra attentively squint in a smile at Ezra's comment. He looks over to Alessa to see her response but then is pulled back to Ezra as he continues. "Do you have an album, youtube, or a soundcloud, or something?" Ezra, though his attention is on Alessa, glances over to Lucas who mouths Soundcloud? in which Ezra quietly and simply responds "It's for music," and turns his attention back to Alessa. Lucas does the same and looks just as interested as Ezra, who is now leaned forward with his elbows on his knees.

When she hears Ezra compliment her on her performance, a light chuckle escapes her lips and she glances to the side, her smile getting a little bigger while looking shy. Alessandra had been curious about their opinion of course, but actually hearing it made her feel good and a tad nervous all at once. “Oh well, thank you. You’re too kind.” She leans forward to set the bottle of water down on the table and returns her gaze to Ezra’s face once more as he continues to speak, then after the brief exchange between the two men, she nods slightly while leaning back into her seat. “Actually, I recently made a soundcloud account. My actual job keeps me rather busy, so I only have a few things on there at the moment.” Alessandra looks around and spots some stationary on the table next to her along with a cup containing some pens. She grabs one of each and turns to face the table a bit so she can write down the pseudonym she uses for the account.
This was actually something she had internally debated doing for a long time; putting her music on the internet. Not only because she was nervous about ‘putting herself out there’ even more than she already had, but being recognized was something that a hunter really didn’t want to happen. So she would only ever put audio online, and make sure her performances were few and far in between to reduce the risk of exposure. It really was just a hobby, anyway. After she writes down the name, Alessandra reaches across the table to hand the piece of paper to Ezra while showing them both another friendly grin. Although the other man seemed to be paying attention to the conversation, she couldn’t help but notice that he was rather quiet and she moves her gaze from him back to Ezra.
“So what kind of magic do you two perform? Is one of you going to be making the other disappear or something like that?” In all honesty, Alessandra was very curious about this and it showed in the tone of her voice and body language as she watches them intently. The hunter had never really been to a magic show, and whenever she dealt with situations having to do with ‘magic’ it usually wasn’t anything pleasant. As she speaks, Alessandra leans back in her chair once again and crosses her right leg over the left, then clasps both of her hands before gently resting them over her right knee, sitting with perfect posture as she listens attentively to the answer.
