History: Alan was born in a Midwestern suburb in Illinois, an hour or two outside of Chicago. He lived a fairly average life with his older sister and parents despite some intensive bullying in his early years settling him into his reclusive ways. When he was young, Alan's grandfather passed to cancer; afterwards, odd things began to happen around his home. Nothing ever malicious, but things would be moved or seemingly turned on by themselves. This kick-started Alan's interest into the paranormal.
Throughout his teenage years, Alan found he was really good at reading people and often helped whoever he could through problems, jokingly making him be called the "student student councilor." Outside of school, he often would go with groups of friends to check out supposedly haunted places, which ninety-nine percent of the time was nothing more than an abandoned building. With his talent for reading people, Alan latched onto the idea of becoming a psychologist of some sort and applied himself in his schooling to get into a highly regarded college to earn his degree.
After graduating high school, the family took a hit in their economic standing so Alan put his schooling plans on hold for a few years and worked various jobs to help himself and his family get along. After about five years, things seemed to be getting back to normal and Alan could consider going to school again, but he was afraid of the commitment he would need to make by leaving his current fledgling career to chase a previous dream. It was about three more years of debating with himself before he finally had enough and applied to his college of choice, who accepted him. Ecstatic, Alan had his things shipped up to his dorm and hopped on a train downtown to begin his new life.

RP Sample: Alan could smell the mildew in the air, the musky scent being a backdrop onto the cold basement he was currently exploring. He swiveled his flashlight around seeing that the moss had penetrated down here growing through the broken window that signified where ground level was. The others in the room paced around behind him, doing similarly, mostly taking note of the splotches of graffiti on the walls were plants hadn't overtaken the surface.
"I dunno, man, this just looks like another dump to me."
Of course Rick would say that. Alan could feel his disdain from across the room, the clicking of his boots giving off the mental image of his body language screaming 'I need a smoke!' Granted, that was Rick most of the time regardless, but this night had been rather boring. This may indeed have just been another abandoned building. Yet again.
"Maybe. Nothing seemed to happen on the other floors, and all we've found down here is plants and graffiti. I guess we should call it a night."
Everyone shuffled their way up the flight of stairs and out the shattered window they once entered through. Sighing internally, Alan felt disappointed. From all the rumors, this should have been an actual haunted house, but it wasn't in the end apparently. Just another waste of time. As everyone marched on, Alan heard a noise come from behind him, almost like a voice, but not audible to make coherent words even if it was whispering. He turned to look back at the building, scanning the windows, but saw nothing more than some leaves being blown in the wind.
"Hey, c'mon man! We'll leave you here if you don't hurry up!"
Alan shook the thought from his head and raced off to catch up, but on the entire trip home something bothered him. It was like a small itch on the back of his mind. He swore he heard something back there but what?
