Once upon a time, Zera was a rather brave, outspoken girl. Now, however, given what she has gone through in the past year, she isn't sure quite what she is. Falling asleep and spending a year, lost in darkness is a quick way to break someone's willpower and it holds true for Zera. She struggles to cope with what occurred in In Between and is constantly afraid that her shadowy captors will return her there if she is not careful, or if she sleeps at all, for that matter. Given the trauma she has endured, Zera has a very clear preference for the light. She will outright refuse to go out at night if she can help it and will most likely turn on every light in a house if she can help it, much to the disdain of other people more often than not. She even sleeps in a well lit room, scared to death of what might lurk in the shadow-filed corners of her room.
Even while having to piece together what the "In Between" left behind, Zera still has a creative spark that the shadows couldn't snuff out of her. She still appreciates art and loves to write - generally loving a good story if she can find one to help calm her nerves, or write one of her own.
Undoubtedly what she fears most in the world is ever returning to the In Between. The idea of being sucked back into the darkness terrifies her beyond belief. She isn't sure how she escaped last time, but she hopes she never has to do it again... even though she knows full well that her captors are after her... and they are angry.

For all intents and purposes, Zera wasn't born into a perfect life, but she was a completely normal girl. There wasn't any fancy abilities to her family or unique origin story, no - it was just a mainly unhappy marriage between two people who didn't get along most of the time. With one parent a die hard Christian, and the other encouraging her to go her own path, Zera had the ideas of a higher power as well as freedom drilled into her head at the same time, and so she took on both. Though she was never too partial to any one religion, simply thinking that there was, indeed, some kind of higher power. That is, however, pointless.
Zera's life was utterly typical. Eventually she went to high school, discovered herself and her sexuality - finding both genders reasonably attractive. Of course, her parents clashed over the matter and eventually the tension caused by the debate resulted in a split, during which Zera's main source of support was from a childhood friend named Sadie Watson. It was with Sadie that she encountered the beings that would change her life for the worst, in fact.
Sadie insisted on a camping trip... Zera wasn't quite sure why she wanted it so badly, but she could never tell her best friend no. The assumed that the two of them would be alone out in the wilderness for this little venture, but they couldn't have been any more wrong because the two young women were being watched by something much older than the two of them. The sun was setting and they had more than a few beers in the two of them that resulted in more than a few ill-advised actions and horribly timed confessions of feelings for one another. In this intoxicated state, effectively distracted by her equally drunk friends lips, Zera barely aknowledged the towering figure in the distance as they retired to their tent for the last night Zera can remember with any kind of happiness, because after she finally fell asleep just before the crack of dawn... they presence came for her. Towering black figures ripped her away from the natural state of dreaming and took her somewhere else. Somewhere horrible.
To the world outside, Zera had, by unknown means, slipped into a coma with no previous health issues or present ones that could be detected. She was admitted into a hospital when Sadie called for emergency help when her bed partner had bee unresponsive, but no amount of medicine could help with what was going on just outside the realm of logic. It didn't take long for Zera's sleeping body to mysteriously vanish from the California hospital to appear in Zeppelin City, where staff continued to take care of her,
Inside Zera's head, however, she found herself in a world of darkness and horror. An endless loop of shadow where she couldn't even see her hand right in front of her face. The only stimulation she ever had was the crunching of dirt and gravel under her feet and the distant whispers or laughing that constantly filled the air. She suffered through one, full long year of this before... she escaped. Her eyes opened, her memory of the time spent in the dreamscape being foggy at best, but now... now things were different.

Revan let everything Lucy was saying hit her at once, and it felt like the feeling the Angel got when she was still powerful, when someone shot her with a shotgun. She felt terrible, like someone had punched her in the gut, or hit her with a baseball bat. She turned around and her hand went over her mouth, feeling like she was going to throw up. It was better that Lucy was dead than deserving this... No one deserved to be a ghost, the sad, sad existence.
Her throat tightened and tears began to well up, trying a hard as she could to keep from breaking down here on the floor.
She turned to Lucy, seemingly three shades paler, her hair not nearly as vibrant as it seemed to be three years ago, her grey eyes dulled to a shade of black. "Lucy... its 2013..." Revan hadn't been keeping track but she had counted three New Years celebrations since Lucy's death. Her hands went to her face and then back to her sides, her nails digging in to her palms until blood leaked down her fingers. "Three years.. I've counted. Three years I've slept alone in the bed. Three years I've drowned my sorrows I alcohol... Three years with my heart ripped from my chest without you here, Heaven and Earth becoming a living hell to me, leaving me with what options?" Revan wasn't going to lie, she had tried her hand at writing stories like Lucy, but that was the best poetry she could do, even if it was free verse.
Tears were dripping down her cheeks again now, and with the flick of her wrist the TV blinked to life and flicked to the news, where the date would be shown. "Everything I told you... Everything you thought I was crazy over, everything you would joke about... About me being an Angel was not a lie." Revan looked up at her again and then to the floor. "I m-missed you so... s-so much." Revan's legs stopped supporting her then and the pink haired woman fell on the floor, her head tilted down and her face in her hands, sobbing. She knew she shouldn't, but she felt as she did on the day of Lucy's death and funeral. Like all the life had been sucked out of her seeing the person she loved at this fate. But there was a part of Revan that was revived with this, the part of her that she had thought was buried with Lucy... Selfish as it may be to her, Revan was so, so happy Lucy was back.
