Personality: Being the Angel of Power and in charge of training and discipline, Sandalphon is very stern and strict in his tone and actions pretty much like a Military General would be. He expects nothing but the best from the angels under his training and will take nothing less from them. While he wants everything to run like a well oiled machine, it doesn't mean that he is without compassion for his siblings and humans. He is also very respectful, but only to those that he believes has earned it from him. He just wants things to be done a certain way, and he believes that his actions are for the betterment of Heaven and Earth.
It is known in lore that Sandalphon is considered to be one of the tallest angels in Heaven, which is represented in his vessel who stands at a prominent 6'4" tall. This along with his piercing gaze and stoic expression can make him look quite intimidating to those around him...which is something that he honestly doesn't mind. Sandalphon can be very blunt and doesn't tip toe around a lot of subjects, or use 'flowery' speech. He's very straightforward and to the point especially when he is giving orders.

History: Sandalphon’s existence began like other angels: he was created by God sometime after the Leviathan’s were locked away in Purgatory and Heaven became the home of him and all his siblings. However, it was evident early on that he was gifted with the ability to battle against those that would stand against Heaven and was therefore known as the Angel of Power. He liked helping his brothers and sisters hone their skills with an angel blade, hand to hand combat and how to fight one on one or in large scale battles. While he was indeed talented in this aspect, he also was known for his ability to sing and play music, and also the angel that determines the sex of a baby when it is born.
When God created humans, Sandalphon loved them just as his father did. He thought they had a rough and imperfect start, but most of them were very tenacious and refused to give up and the angel had to admire that. It was obvious that Lucifer, God’s former favorite creation, didn’t feel the same way. So when he decided to rebel, Michael lead the host of Heaven against him to cast him out and Sandalphon was there on the front lines with him to fight. Lucifer then went to Earth and corrupted a human soul into the first demon, and Michael on God’s command locks Lucifer in the deepest pit of hell locked with 600 seals. Sixty-six of these seals would need to be broken in order for him to get free, and a prophecy stated that one day he would break free, starting the Apocalypse and bringing paradise to Earth once Michael kills him.
The Angel of Power remained in Heaven for a very long time on God’s orders after this, having no real desire to step foot on Earth anyway and figured his place was with his siblings to help as much as he could. He enjoyed being in Heaven, and one of his favorite parts was the Heaven of an elderly man who had lost his battle with cancer, teaching his grandson how to play checkers in Central park. Around the year 2008, things would change drastically not only in Heaven but Earth and Hell as well. His brother Castiel was ordered to lead a group of Heaven’s elite into Hell to save Dean Winchester, but not before the man broke the first of 66 seals needed to free Lucifer.
What ensued afterwards was a race against Lilith and many other demons helping her break the seals, and it was at this time that Sandalphon acquired a vessel and went to Earth to try and help his siblings stop the seals from being broken. This frustrated Sandalphon greatly, because it seemed that no matter what he and the others did, more seals kept breaking and Lucifer walking the Earth once again seemed inevitable. He also ended up learning that they had traitors among them that wanted Lucifer to be set free, but the most disheartening news was yet to come. Sandalphon and his siblings were fighting for nothing, as breaking all the seals needed was the plan from the beginning, and God was no longer in Heaven. The Archangels had been giving the orders all along, and when Sam Winchester killed Lilith…that broke the last lock on the cage.
Lucifer now roamed the Earth, completely unstoppable since Michael did not have a vessel to confront him with. Sandalphon tried his best to fight against the demons that roamed around unchecked, but he knew it was useless; the head of the snake needed to be cut off. When news of the ‘final charge’ came through, he couldn’t believe it. Michael and Lucifer were now in the cage together, locked away thanks to the Winchesters and Castiel. Sandalphon felt bad for his brother, but he also couldn’t believe that his Father would have wanted the decimation of most of the human race and the Earth. He also was hopeful that God was still watching over him and His children since Castiel was miraculously resurrected in the last fight.
Sandalphon returned to Heaven, and it was in absolute disarray. The angels didn’t know what to do, or who to follow now. Castiel, the one who ‘rebelled’ by helping the Winchesters stop the apocalypse had returned home and talked about the idea of ‘free will’. Sandalphon couldn’t grasp this concept…taking orders from God was something he had ALWAYS done, and thinking about doing otherwise scared him. However, when he learns that Raphael is planning on restarting the apocalypse and Castiel refuses to kneel and repent, something stirs inside the Angel of Power. He knew that the Archangel was of a higher rank and that Cas should listen to him, but…it didn’t feel like it was right. Again, he tried to imagine his Father wanting to destroy most of humanity in such a way and he couldn’t do it. So Sandalphon decided then and there that he would side with the Seraph.
There was no way of knowing just how much this decision would impact Sandalphon and so many others. It was clear that Cas became more powerful after he refused to rebel, but never in a million years would anyone have guessed that it was because he was dealing with the King of Hell, Crowley. He seemed different, more closed off…but he always reassured the angels that looked up to him that they could win this, no matter how bleak the outcome looked. So Sandalphon trusted him and did what he could to help out his side, hating the civil war that raged between his siblings but carrying on. Then Purgatory was opened, boundless souls entering one angel…
That fateful night, when Castiel returned to Heaven…it was a series of images that would be forever burned into Sandalphon’s mind. He was visiting his favorite section of Heaven when he heard it: Castiel announcing that he was the new God, and everyone would be better off if they obeyed him like good children. He went to where Cas had been and that’s when he saw it. His brother killed every last angel that ever helped Raphael, never offering them a choice. So many siblings were lost that night. Sandalphon couldn’t believe that this was happening…all he wanted was to help and do what he thought was right. Heaven had suffered so many blows already, and now things looked absolutely hopeless.
From this point on, all Sandalphon could do was what he had always tried to do: help. The angels and countless humans suffered more losses due to the Leviathan when they escaped from Castiel’s vessel. Eventually word spread that Cas was back in action and he was once again working with the Winchesters to end Dick Roman once and for all. Afterwards, he learned that Castiel and the eldest Winchester had gone missing…but it looked like things would finally start getting better, for Heaven and Earth.
Sometime after this, Sandalphon heard a voice…one that he knew to be his Father, instructing him. The angel couldn’t believe it, after all this time God was speaking to him. He said that Sandalphon along with three of his siblings, would become the Commanding Angels of Heaven and he would be in charge of battle training and discipline. The Angel of Power hardly found himself deserving of such a title, feeling like he failed his family, but God had spoken. With this new title, Sandalphon seeks to restore Heaven to its former glory along with the three other Commanding Angels…and to rule it with an iron fist.
Sandalphon's Vessel
James McNamara was born on May 10, 1968 to Tim and Jessica McNamara, and a part of Paul the Apostles bloodline. To say that he had a rough life could be considered an understatement. His father was an abusive alcoholic while his mother was an 'enabler', believing she deserved the abuse and shielding James from receiving some of it. Childhood and adolescence was a rough time for James, and he started drinking and experimenting with drugs by the time he was in the 8th grade. He felt alone and cursed with what life had given him, and would curse God or whatever entity that he deemed responsible for not helping him. In his Junior year of high school, his mother finally received help and left her husband but the damage had been done.
James ended up failing high school and ran away from home, still struggling with his addictions. After being homeless and sleeping in alleyways for a few years, James received help from an elderly woman named Ethel who brought him food or water and spare clothing. He took them reluctantly, but then he grew grateful of her kindness and soon they would talk to one another. They discussed many things, among the most prominent was religion as the lady was a devout Christian woman. She offered James a spare room in her house if he promised to get clean and get his life together, and he accepted.
He began reading the bible with Ethel and attending church, finished his high school education and attended college so he could study to become a counselor to teens and adults struggling with addiction and abuse. Sadly Ethel passed away by the time James went to college, but he knew that she must be looking down on him from Heaven because of all her kindness. He spent over 20 years going to different schools and telling his story, while counseling those that had similar hardships as himself, devoting his life to helping others.
One day while praying at home, bright light filled the room and a voice spoke to James. He said he was Sandalphon, an angel of the Lord and he needed James' help. The angel explained how much he admired James for persevering despite everything he had been through, turning a new leaf much like his ancestor did thousands of years ago. He also told James that he needed a vessel, someone that he could work through to help the people of Earth...and James said yes. He could think of no higher calling than that.

It took some concentration, but Alessandra was able to hold back a sassy and somewhat flirty comment when Lyle said something about her being useful, only showing a small smile. She usually didn’t have to remind herself this often to concentrate on the case at hand. It’s not that she wasn’t determined to get to the bottom of everything; Alessa just wasn’t used to having a partner like this one. As Lyle talked about how Myers’ friends were acting, she nods slightly in agreement while moving a stray strand of hair out of her face. It was obvious to her as well when she had tried questioning them. While Alessa had been convinced that it was because she was new to the school and really had no ‘right’ asking such things, it seemed Lyle had about the same amount of luck as she did and he was ‘FBI’.
The directness of his following question surprises Alessandra, but she manages not to let it show and just slowly lifts her gaze to meet Lyle’s, a small frown on her lips. It was a strong possibility and one that couldn’t be swept under the rug, especially if this teen was turning into a creature of some sort. Alessa felt like this was a test of her mettle, but she quickly pushes that thought away as she reaches up and gently runs her forefinger over her bottom lip, glancing to the side. “It’s a possibility. Looking at it from his perspective…you’re tormented for years, then one day you have the power to finally do something about it. It could very well be what happened.” Alessa then looks at Lyle once again and shrugs a little. If James did indeed take a life…there was no turning back; he would have to be dealt with.
