Shape-shifting - Like Werewolves, Skinwalkers possess the ability to transform into canines. Unlike werewolves, however, skinwalkers transform completely into an animal rather than a hybrid man/wolf creature. Skinwalkers can change from their human to animal forms anytime without a full moon.
Infectious bite - Like Werewolves, Skinwalkers possess a poisonous bite; if someone is bitten by a Skinwalker, he or she will also become a Skinwalker.
Enhanced Sense of Smell - They can smell far better than humans, in either form. Using this ability, they can tell if they are being followed or if someone is in the vicinity, within an approximate range of 100 yards or more. They possess this ability even in the human form.
Super-hearing - A skinwalker's hearing is better then humans, like a dog's.
Accelerated Healing - They appear to be able to heal themselves much faster than humans.
Enhanced Strength - Their strength seems to be greater than the average human's, as in its dog form it was able to kill humans. Their strength appears to increase with rank (much like vampires), as the Pack Leader is able to beat lower ranks around with no difficulties. It seems that it's only in their canine form that they possess their strength.
Super Speed - Skinwalkers, in their animal form, can run and move faster than humans.
Invulnerability - Like many other shapeshifters, Skinwalkers can only be killed by silver bullets to the heart or head. They can, however, be injured.

Personality:
Alyria is a self dependant young woman whose dream is to be a famous baker or chef. She is pretty good at it especially because of her heightened senses of being a skinwalker. She is able to figure out what is missing in whatever she is making but tends to avoid eating anything with tomatoes.
She is a quiet girl who tends to be a little outspoken at times but knows when to be silent and when to speak up. She was an easy A student when she was in culinary school which also proves that her study habits are up to par. When Alyria is mad she tends to go off somewhere to think either by herself or with a friend.
She knows the importance of having a buddy around and is loyal to that buddy no matter what. When she is sad she does the same thing, some differences would be if she needed to calm down from sadness she would pet her dog who would encourage her or bake something new that she had never tried before. Creating things always was an interest of hers since she was very little.
When Alyria is a work she tends to be the take charge type of girl who likes to get things exactly how it should be. Sometimes this annoys her coworkers to the point that they complain to their managers, the managers don’t do anything about it because she’s been a good worker. She loves what she does and hopes to someday own a bakery of her own or something that she could call her own.

History:
Alyria was born in the center of Manhatten and left inside of a grocery store for someone to find her. No one knew who her parents were or why they would give her up but she was placed in a foster home till she was adopted a few months later. Her adopted mothers had been looking at other kids but the un-named girl popped out to them as they had been wanting a child of their own.
After taking them home they introduced her to their precious terrier named Garfield who didn’t really like the little girl. Two years later she had an instance with the terrier where she got in his face and he got aggressive and bit her hand. Marjorie who had originally owned the dog before picked the dog up and forced him outside on the porch so that they could take care of their daughter.
During the year the couple left their daughter with a very close friend of both of theirs and took off for a month long hunting trip out west. They knew Alyria would have to grow up as other hunter kids would even if the social services didn’t like it. They always made sure that they stopped by twice a week to check on Alyria to see if she was okay before they went back on the road again.
This happened for five years till they decided to take the girl along with them on the trip. Most of their hunts were close enough to family to leave Alyria with them to take care of her. One of those unexpected hunts lead very close to home where a bunch of dogs got in through the door (small dog via kitty hole, opened the door in human form and allowed the others in.) and attacked the family. Laurel and Marjorie got to the house in time to find a chihuahua attack Alyria’s arm. They quickly shot the skinwalkers all dead and scaring the rest away that they could check the younger girls wound.
After a couple years of chopped up animal hearts served up by her mommy’s the older Alyria became more adept to hunting animals herself in her golden retriever form. She was told by her parents to only attack animals that other humans would think normal for a dog to attack. Squirrels, birds and such…. She slowly became a pretty good hunter of the little creatures after a while which helped her parents from hunting them for her.
Several times they even brought her game hunting for deer and other creatures. They never wanted to teach her how to hunt other creatures out there in the world because they were scared she would be killed or something. They did however tell her the difference of some creatures and enough knowledge to keep her safe.
On Alyria’s 16th birthday the family decided to settle down in Seattle, Washington where Alyria ended up staying till she disappeared. The young girl liked it there, she actually was put into school to make friends and ended up meeting her best friend Ava who was also a skinwalker in the school. The two of them got along so well that they started to date and explore a new lifestyle together. Alyria had never felt any attraction to anyone until they started dating. The two were inseparable.
Two years later, both the girls ended up attending some culinary classes at the local community college. Ava hated it but Alyria stayed on because she felt as if she was being called to that type of career. She had always had a knack for foods and such at home and thought it appropriate to learn. After two years she graduated with an associate's in culinary and Ava got her associates in criminology, both hoped to further their studies elsewhere but Alyria didn’t have enough money or scholarships for the school she wanted so she decided to stay home and plan for her road trip that next February.
She couldn’t wait, just her, Ava and her new dog named Abbadon. (who is a golden retriever.) When February came both the girls packed up and headed out on the open road, that was till they got to Oregon where they ended up crashing into a tree which killed Ava and injured Alyria. (so happens to be in Zepplin city road. ;D They poofed there.))

Tamiko looked up from her seat and looked around. The classroom had filled up quickly and now she was going to start the first lesson, "Hello students, I am Prof. Tamiko Niigata, Hufflepuff deputy head of house as well as your potions professor. First off, please tell me your name and favorite thing about Fall and what you think we're going to be learning about this term. Other than Polyjuice potion as I will be displaying the key ingredients to that on the wall there. Would anyone like to tell me what they know about the potion?" A set of ingredients showed up on the wall: Lacewing flies, horn of bicorn, leeches, knotgrass, fluxweed and Boomslang skin.
