Personality:Corbin is incredibly crude most of the time, with a cynical view on life. He's often thought of as being dark and gloomy, and that he spends most of his day sulking. He really just has a hard time expressing cheerier emotions, and finds it easier to just be sarcastic and rude, mainly to keep others at bay. He enjoys being at odds with others, and acts crass on purpose to get a rise out of people. He's terrible making friends, and is so used to saying rude things off hand that he will likely drive off those rare individuals that he would have liked to get closer to.
The only person he truly cares for is Siofra, as she saw potential in him and undertook the trying task of raising him when he was just a nestling. Corbin is extremely protective of Siofra, and is constantly watching her, especially since they ended up in Zeppelin City. He's quite guarded about himself, and it's rare for others to see what he's really like when his defenses and attitude are down. Despite his many shortcomings though, he is dependable and if given a task to do that he agrees with, he will see it out to the end, regardless of how difficult the going may get. His mechanical mindset allows him to understand or figure out machines and devices as he comes across them, and he also enjoys puzzles because of it.

History:
Born in the Cathedral Grove in BC, Canada, Corbin came from a line of harpies that had a mindset that you could only receive your name if you made it to adulthood. Being the weakest of three nestlings, he was already looked down upon by his parents, who felt he was likely to fail his first flight. His pin feathers had just started to grow in when his brother decided the nest was too small with three, so he turned on Corbin and shoved him out over the edge once Adyll and Jolein were out hunting for food. His fall down the tall tree was broken by the many branches and the thick cover of moss that grew on them, and the forest floor. His naive mind at the time thought he would be rescued by his parents if he stayed there, so Corbin waited quietly at the base of his nesting tree. However, when night fell, his mother landed in front of him and told him that because he had allowed himself to fall, he proved just how weak he was, and that their family had no need of such a pathetic harpy. She left him then, and that was when Corbin realized he was truly left to die on his own.
He managed to survive for about a week, though he had found no food and was growing weaker and weaker, slaking his thirst on the morning dew on the moss and the small stream he had found. He spent his nights hiding under the roots of old trees, hoping the heavy scent of soil and moss would be enough to hide him from predators. On the 6th day, he came across a human female, hiking through the forest and looking both out of place yet so at home surrounded by the bright green moss. Having decided that he was going to die within the next couple days, Corbin felt there wasn't any harm in following the human. He had never seen such a creature, and was fascinated how she had a face like a harpy did, but had no feathers or wings. So odd, perhaps she was a mutant variation. When she started to turn around he had hid, but the food she held out was too tempting, and eventually she had drawn him out. He was terrified of the woman, who called herself Siofra, but she was kind and spoke to him with far more compassion than his parents had. What shook him to his young core was when she decided to give him a name right then and there, because he had been brought up thinking he had to fly to get a name. Because he had black down at the time, she named him Corbin, a name that means "raven" as she was inspired by his black colors. However it became an ironic joke once he had gained his adult feathers and it turned out he was patterned like a magpie rather than a raven.
He didn't really know why at the time, but when she offered to take him with her to raise until he could be on his own, he agreed. And in the end, despite being able to live on his own for the past 10 years, he remains by her side. It was a difficult upbringing, though Siofra tried hard. He had no idea of his weakness to silver, so when he first began to explore the house she had at the time, he picked up a fork to look at it, but received a deep burn from it. He still has a scar on his right palm from it, something that they have always told people was from the stove. As he grew older, his frustration at not fully understanding what he was would at times get the better of him, and he lashed out at Siofra. But the guilt of doing so would then hit and he would fly off to stew in whatever trees were nearby. He wanted to understand his species better, to gain understanding of himself, but they never encountered another harpy and truly, Corbin felt that any harpies they did meet might not take kindly to him, being raised by a human. The day he discovered he could take on a human form was a complete shock to him, as he had been wondering what it would be like to look like a human, and had gotten so focused on what he'd look like, and what it would feel like, that when his shapeshifting ability kicked in he could only stand in frozen shock as Siofra exclaimed loud curses in surprise. He realised that this would be a boon to them, and it allowed him to explore so much more of the world. It gave Siofra more ease when he went off on his own during a fit, as he made sure to stay looking human from that point.
Gradually she began to take him on her hunts, and taught him some basics to help her out, such as what monsters were weak to and the best way to deal with them. One hunt, when he was 16, they were hunting a wendigo, and he made a miscalculation that resulted in him getting a slash from its claws to his side. Siofra managed to kill it just before it could land another, fatal blow. It was that hunt that left him with several long scars down his left side, and a deep fear of wendigos. But he gained caution, and from that point has been far more careful in everything he does.
Corbin is quite mechanical inclined, and enjoys working with his hands to fix all sorts of machines, cars, and in general being a handyman of sorts. It keeps his mind active and was always a good way for Siofra to distract him as he grew up, by presenting him with sink repairs or car troubles. He likes to tinker with anything that has gears in it, and frequently takes things apart just to see how they work.
As the years passed, Siofra began to slow down (despite her claims to the opposite), Corbin worked hard to be able to protect her. He began to find ways to tackle or drop the targets to try and stun them long enough for Siofra to do her bloodthirsty thing. It usually works fairly well, so long as he stays out of sight from the start. Corbin doesn't always hunt in human form, as he feels like he has a better chance in his harpy form. He managed to eventually convince Siofra to retire, and she bought a small shop (or rather, won it in a mean game of poker). They spent three years with that shop, with minimal hunting. Corbin felt that he could relax, knowing Siofra was taking less risks to her health. They would even go on daily walks in the morning. However, one day on a walk they came back to find themselves not in Montana anymore, and instead were in Zeppelin City. Siofra settled quite fast, but it took Corbin far longer to adjust. They keep up a facade of being a mother and son, though Corbin keeps to himself and often watches from a distance. He was completely terrified when he discovered that another harpy lived in the town, but at the same time he was excited for the chance to learn more about his kind from a far older and more experienced harpy.

Stretching his wings out, Corbin fluttered them lightly before holding them slightly downward at his side. The sun was on his back, and his black feathers were eagerly absorbing the warmth. Chattering softly, he closed his eyes in bliss. Ah, so nice and warm. Nearby, Siofra was busy pulling out weeds. Watching her with a dubious eye, Corbin wasn't entirely sure she had a good hand for gardening. Looking around at the sad plants, and raggedy bushes, he sighed. Their garden was such an offense to the senses. But, it made the old lady happy, so he just held his tongue.
"Looks like our strawberries are coming along!" Siofra stated proudly. well, at least fruit was growing, even if things looked a little...shriveled.
"At least we'll get something out of the harvest." he grumbled.
"Hush you. Now come and help me weed."
Groaning in complaint, Corbin closed his wings and strutted over, head jerking side to side like a pigeon as he looked over the weeds she wanted him to pull. Making a face, he turned and walked away.
"Excuse you!" Siofra scoffed.
"You're the gardener, not me." Corbin stated, giving her a snooty look. She returned the look, before smirking.
"Just as well i suppose. You'll likely pull the wrong plant out."
"Exactly. I'll be looking for pests instead." Corbin stated, beginning to poke about the yard, looking for mice. Siofra just smiled, and began to hum an irish ditty as she worked.
