Negatives (At Least 3):
✦ pretty low self-esteem
✦ has a difficult time finishing a task… or at least calling it finished… There’s always something that she isn’t satisfied with in the end, so even her art never feels complete
✦ can be a bit harsh or impatient when dealing with other people
Parents: Mark and Suzanne Reilly
Siblings: One brother, David, just under five years older
Other Family: Pretty decently sized extended family
Important Others: Aiden Watson , Kevin, her ex-husband
Jessica had pretty much what some people would call an ‘apple pie life’ growing up. Her family was very close… visiting with extended family pretty much every Saturday when she was a child, celebrating every birthday and holiday together, taking family vacations, etc. Her mother was a house wife and her father worked maintenance at a job that he had held since he was 17 years old. They weren’t wealthy but thanks to her dad’s willingness to work his ass off for overtime hours, her mom’s willingness to work her ass off at home to exceed her family’s needs and wants, and the fact that both of her parents were exceptionally good with their money and their credit, Jes and her brother never really wanted for anything. She wasn’t a spoiled princess by any means… She still had to do her chores and help out around the house, and she never was a greedy person really, so she didn’t ask for much. But what she did ask for, if it was reasonable, her parents would find a way, even if it meant that she had to do some extra work to earn it.
During most of the summer months growing up, her family did a lot of camping, sometimes with other families they met through church. Up until her pre-teen years she was a regular church goer with her family but eventually some drama caused their Sunday service attendance to dwindle until they stopped going altogether. In middle school she met a girl who was a missionary from Africa, who invited Jes to visit her church, where it became clear that their teen attendance was largely due to the fact that there were quite a few attractive boys there too. But there was also a youth minister there who was actually worth listening to, and who clearly cared about the kids there. Go for the boys, stay for the decent adult role model.
She eventually became a member of that church and started going three times a week… sometimes more if there was an activity happening, and it wasn’t only for the boys. She had a good community there.. A second family. During this time, Jes was pretty quiet at school. She had a few friends there but most of her social life revolved around people she knew from church or people she met online. At one point the youth minister she had become very attached to, and trusted, moved on from his position and another youth minister took his place. Jes was about 17 now and had been dating a guy named Kevin that she met online. She and Kevin had a sexually active relationship and this information became known to the new youth minister, who, along with his wife, offered to take her to dinner, where they proceeded to lecture her about her bad behavior, as well as call her a crazy liar when she tried to tell them about some other things that were happening behind the scenes in the youth group. This was the last time Jes went to church. It was a massive blow to her self-esteem, and her trust in the people there.
Jessica eventually married Kevin, not long out of high school. He wasn’t a bad guy. They had a lot of laughs but he was pretty controlling, and extremely insecure, especially with guys she talked to online. He seemed particularly threatened by Aiden, who is someone she met on a discussion board about the Carver Edlund Supernatural books, and by now she had known him for quite a few years and had developed what she felt was a true friendship with him, even if they had never met in person. Jes trusted Aiden and would talk to him about pretty much anything and everything, including when she felt like Kevin was being ridiculous. But eventually Aiden told her that he didn’t want to cause a rift in her marriage and decided to cut ties with her.
Even with Aiden out of the picture, her problems with Kevin continued. Again, he wasn’t a bad guy, but there were just little things here and there that eventually led to them separating and eventually divorcing. Jes found her own relationship with God during this time, on her own terms, and although to this day she still refuses to attend church or abide by a book written over two thousand years ago as law, she does pray and have faith and believes that she has a good heart and tries to be a decent person.
A little over four years ago she got a text late one night… from Aiden of all people. It read ‘THE SUPERNATURAL IS REAL.’ She attempted to text and call him back several times that night to figure out what the hell he was talking about, but he didn’t answer until the next morning. Although he tried to blow it off as just a drunken text that didn’t mean anything, it wasn’t the only time it happened. It was the start of their rekindled friendship, which would last for most of the next year, through texts and phone calls. At first it was just a couple of strange calls or texts where he tried telling her that he was hunting… like the guys in those Supernatural books.
Jes just brushed it off at first. Aiden was clearly joking around, and had an overactive imagination. But then he called her saying he was in trouble and showed her a massive gash in his side which he claimed was caused by a wendigo and was afraid to go to a hospital. It was at this point that Jessica became extremely concerned for her friend. She insisted that he get medical help, but deep down she was afraid that it might not be the only help he needed. She was afraid that maybe he was taking this supernatural stuff too seriously… to an unhealthy level. She kept in more frequent contact with him from that point on, trying not to encourage him but also not blowing him off either. She wanted to keep a close eye on him… she wanted him to feel like he could trust her.
But eventually he stopped calling… and texting. Jessica’s calls to Aiden came up to a disconnected number. One of the more recent things he had told her was that he had been told that some demon had a claim on his soul thanks to a deal his mom had made when she was younger. It was the most insane thing she had heard but he had clearly been terrified. So when he went missing she pretty much dropped everything and went looking for him. But after several months all leads had turned up empty and Jes felt she was forced to deal with a realization that broke her heart… He had decided to cut her out of his life for good.
She gave up and went back home to Kentucky, where she settled back into her simple, safe, boring life working as a cashier at a local hardware store and doing character portrait art for commissions on the side.

Beth glanced over at the passenger seat as she pulled into the gas station. They had been driving for nearly six hours and Dean had been asleep for about two of them. It had been two days since she first met him back in Michigan and honestly, she was amazed that he had stuck around. Grateful... but amazed. Dean had so far proven to be quite interesting company... not to mention eye candy for the road that didn't give her a stomach ache or cavities.
The gas station was so empty that Beth almost wasn't sure if the pumps even worked anymore. There was a lone dusty green pickup truck parked in the very back corner of the gravel parking lot that ran alongside the small convenience store. The filling area looked to be the only section that was paved, and it was old, cracked pavement at that. She considered waking Dean in case he needed to use the restroom but she decided against it. Even if he did need to make a pit stop, she doubted he'd want to do it in a smelly, cockroach-infested gas station bathroom.
Beth pulled up to the pump and shut off the engine, looking over at him once more. Two nights ago she had kissed him and run out before giving him a chance to reject her. They hadn't talked about the kiss since then and he hadn't given any sign of clue that it even phased him. If Dean was at all intrigued or repulsed by that one little display of affection, he was very good at not letting it show.
She got out of her car and closed the car door, walking around to look at the pump and frowning when she realized there was no credit card reader. With a sigh she hoisted her bag onto her shoulder and went inside to prepay. There was a fairly young guy slouching at the counter and looking far too tired or too stoned to work there... it was hard to tell which. Beth decided to wander around the store to gather up a few snacks for the road. She needed to stretch her legs anyway.
