Likes:
❤ Magic Studies - Jasper has a great fondness and proclivity when it comes to magic. He knows what he's doing when he discusses it and loves learning all he can about it
❤ The Pack - After his experiences in life, he had no real family. Not until Lux and the rest welcomed him with open arms. He'll forever be thankful to Lux and loyal to him for it
❤ Classical music - Jasper is kind of an old soul, partially due to who his master previously was. He loves listening to classical music, even though not everyone in The Pack feels the same
❤ Writing - He has a secret love of writing and has a 'diary' he writes little stories in during their travels
❤ Catnip - When in his cat form, he goes apeshit for this stuff
Dislikes:
✗ Strangers - He doesn't trust strangers right away and is very quiet around them
✗ Dark Magic - His master tried to kill him with it so he dislikes it greatly.
✗ Water [In cat form at least] - Cats and water? Not good bedfellows
Fears:
☬ Death - He escaped it once. He'd rather not experience it for a good long time
☬ Losing The Pack - They're his family. He literally would have nothing without them
Goals:
★ Teach Astrid about magic and help her regain her powers
Personality: Jasper is a kind, curious man. Much like his feline form, he always wants to learn more and is very curious about the world around him. He spent much of his youth learning so he’s a very intelligent young man, though maintains an old soul in a sense. He’s very loyal to those he considers family and will defend them without hesitation. However he is very tentative and borderline shy around new people. He does not trust easily but once his trust is gained, it’s almost impossible to get rid of him. He’s polite, well-mannered and has a tendency to use large words when speaking. Occasionally he has to rephrase what he means when he can tell someone doesn’t get it. But when someone understands his verbiage? Hoo, boy, you can’t shut the guy up.
Traits
✧ Honest

✧ Loyal
✧ Protective of those he's close to
Negatives:
✦ Distrusting of strangers
✦ Worrywart
✦ Too 'by-the-books' sometimes

History: When Jasper was born, he never got the opportunity to know his biological parents. He grew up raised by a witch named Jessica Smith, who gave him her last name. He was raised on reading and from a young age studied witchcraft. He was a very smart child and picked up on things quickly. He understood magic in a way that his ‘mother’ was left in awe of. She urged him to continue his research and his insatiable curiosity grew and grew. It wasn’t until he was a schoolboy that he discovered what he really was.
One day, Jessica communicated to him via telepathy and it totally jarred him. His unwavering loyalty to her and the sudden ability to speak telepathically awoke questions in him. She sat him down and explained that he was a familiar and she wasn’t really his mother. Jessica informed Jasper that his parents died in a car accident and that his real mother was her best friend since childhood and she was entrusted to take care of him. With the newfound knowledge of what he was, the young Jasper’s life began to change. Rapidly.
Years passed and Jasper discovered that his curiosity was deep in his blood. His family was thick of familiars that were feline in variety. Often, he would stay in his feline form and became the typical cat companion to Jessica. It was an ironic arrangement but he was comfortable in it.
That is, until he was sixteen. Jessica began to delve more and more into the dark arts, desperate for an unknown reason and goal. He cared little for what her goal was, all he knew is she was crossing lines that didn’t sit well with him. Though he remained obedient, he urged his master to cease her dark arts practice. But it was no use. She was going down a deep, dark rabbit hole. Until just before his seventeenth birthday, she seemed to change. Whereas she was a dark, snappy woman during her research, she changed back into the kind and warm woman he knew from his childhood. The distance she previously had between them vanished and he savored the delights in his mother returning in place of the master.
One evening, they went out for a typical late night stroll. It was then that Jessica revealed that in order to gain further strength, immortality and opening further doors magically, she had to destroy something both loyal and pure with a deep love of her. Jasper was left terrified, distrusting and horrified at who she had become. Thanks to his vast knowledge of magic, he was able to counter her attempt to sacrifice him and he broke free. As he ran away from her, his loyalty to her and the telepathic bond was destroyed. He was no longer her familiar.
For a few years, he remained on the streets, playing the part of a stray feline. Kind humans would feed him and he found ways to survive. He would continue his education in secret, never revealing who he was to anyone. He kept to himself, quiet and aloof. That is, until he was approached by a woman. He feigned the innocent, adorable cat routine- though he admitted her overwhelming scent of canine was slightly surprising. But the woman called him out on it.
He was startled and revealed himself to her. After finding out the woman’s name- Lyra- he discovered she was part of a pack of skinwalkers. He explained he had no home, not admitting the jealousy he felt that she had a family that he had grown up never knowing. But her kindness knew no bounds as she insisted he come with her. He agreed, despite his unease, and followed her. The instant he met Lux, he felt a brewing sense of trust. The man allowed him into the pack, despite not being a skinwalker himself, and he became the only feline in a group of canines. The pack soon became his family- his only family- and for once in his short life, he knew how it felt to be loved for who he was, not what he was or as a means to an end.

Angie swept back her hair from her eyes, putting a strand behind her ear as she glanced at the map she held on the steering wheel. From her research- and digging through her grandfather's things most of the summer- she was close. The witch she was after was only a few miles away at this point. Apparently she opted to live on a farm house, away from any unsuspecting humans who would stumble over her. And anyone who was stupid enough would never be found again. After all, a thousand things could happen out in the middle of nowhere. A frown creased her lips at that. Everything was just too perfectly set up. She wouldn't be surprised if the witch answered looking like an old woman. It would be a sick sense of irony that made her stomach flip. Humor in the moment was lost to her.
Turning the black truck down the gravel road towards a distant farmhouse, Angie quickly put the map on the passenger seat. It was only a mile away, but it felt like a lifetime. With her pistol hidden inside of the jacket she wore, she quickly adjusted her hair and her appearance to look like that of a ditzy college student who had lost their way. It was the only way she'd be able to get through the door. Inhaling for a moment, she reached in her pocket and pulled out a stick of gum to chew on, snapping and popping it to get in the feel of it.
Moments later, she parked her truck beside an older car in the driveway. Apparently brooms are out of style still. she thought sourly. The farmhouse was brightly colored with a wraparound porch. It looked like a grandmother's house with the lawn ornaments and everything. Tricky witch. She moved out of the truck and walked up to the door, ringing the doorbell before looking around, feigning interest. In all reality, she was looking for any exterior telltale signs of witchcraft. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. But inside would tell her different. A moment later, an older woman answered the door curiously, smiling a bit, clearly surprised. "Hi. Sorry to be a bother, but my truck is completely out of gas and my cell is out of service. Can I borrow your phone to call a tow truck?" The older woman nodded and allowed her in. The gun in her pocket felt heavy. At least with it being a farm house, no one would know what happened. Taking her first step into the house, Angie knew that there was no more going back after this. It was just the beginning.
