Its not very often that he was asked to do work in such a public setting. His employers are usually a bit more... tactful; but if the money was coming without issue, he had no problems. Murdering for hire for the prior 600 years had given him plenty of experience with all forms of weaponry and combat, but he was still not jaded. Koroshiya was the embodiment of professionalism, ruthless on the job, polite to a fault otherwise. Murdering someone in the middle of mass?
It didn't sit well with him.
Sitting in the pew behind his target, a slender man in his twenties, Koro placed him, sat blissfully unaware. Come time to shake the hands of the rest of the congregation, Koro would extend the small spike on his ring and shake hands with his target. A slow acting microdose of a highly potent toxin would begin coursing through his body. In a few minutes he would get nauseous, then keel over, choking on his own vomit. An impersonal choice, but Koro felt it appropriate for his 'trial run' with his new employer.
There was no chance that this was what he was flown in for. A small time traitor with no other gang affiliations? It was a test, pure and simple. They wanted an example made of him? Fine, he would do it.
All Koroshiya wanted was to get to the meat of his assignment.

Zach was not a man that enjoyed being idle for an extended period of time…more often than not, he preferred to be working or at least on the road heading to the next monster problem. He had finished a job hunting a rugaru a few states over about three days ago now, but it felt like much longer to the veteran hunter. As he sat outside the small café and scanned through the days newspaper, his left leg bounced up and down restlessly while he looked for anything that would catch his eye.
The only thing that interrupted his concentration was the young petite waitress appearing at his right side and asking in a soft voice, “Did you need a refill on your diet soda, hun?” It took a couple extra beats for Zach to realize he was being spoken to, and he blinks a few times before gazing up at her with a brief smile. He responds in his light Scottish accent: “Aye…that would be nice, thank ya.” She returns the smile and looks away, then hurries off get his refill, leaving Zach to look back at his paper while letting out a heavy sigh.
He wasn’t usually this restless between jobs but he needed to take his mind off of things more than anything. An argument he recently had with Alessandra was one of those ‘things’…it had been over a couple vampires that she let go because they didn’t pose a threat, in her opinion. She insisted that they only fed on animal blood and she would keep an eye on the situation. Zach couldn’t help but shake his head as he thought about it. Sure, he may be a bit biased when it came to the bloodsuckers due to his past with them, but he still couldn’t let shit like that just slide. Of course he could always track them down and conduct his own investigation, but Alessa would find out somehow and it would just make things worse because then she would think he didn’t trust her judgment and…Zach groans lightly and rubs the stubble on his chin, knowing this train of thought will lead to nothing but a headache and returns to his paper.

The mass progressed in the same manner that all others did. The priest would drone on and on, speak about his lesson for the day, then ask everyone to offer each other a sign of peace. The opening that he needed. As the target shook hands with the other congregants, Koro did the same. Best to keep up appearances after all.
Offering his hand to the man, no, boy, he flipped the small needle out of the ring and shook firmly; the tiniest of pin pricks would have hardly been felt.
Truth be told, having to sit through the rest of the mass was the hardest part of the whole ordeal. Koroshiya was almost tempted to make the sign of the cross on his way out. Almost.
Making his way down the streets of the town, he checked his watch. His target would be falling ill around now, losing motor function soon after. Tracking the boy down the streets, he got ahead of him and into a small streetside cafe. Taking a seat and ordering a small coffee, he waited.
As predicted, the boy walked in front of the cafe and promptly collapsed onto the sidewalk, violently vomiting the contents of his stomach and a not insignificant amount of blood, a small crowd had gathered around the boy, attempting to help him. Calls were made to 911 and sirens were heard in the distance.
Koroshiya sipped his coffee.

Daphne pulled her Sedane to a stop on the side of the road and sighed, running her hand down her face. She was in need of some serious caffine if she was going to continue her driving, otherwise she might be passing out at the wheel soon. Luckily for Daphne however, she was in the destination. She was supposed to be meeting a contact at this café soon, meet him outside and he was going to tell her about a case. Some abnormal deaths in a strip club - not something Daphne wanted to get in to - but she was a Hunter and she had to deal with things like this. It was her job.
Leaning over the seat, she checked her prosthetic cases and weapons quickly and then, after some digging, found one of her credit cards. "Works for me..." She muttered, at this point only focused on getting a caffeinated drink and unhealthy food in her belly. The young hunter sighed and exited the car, adjusting her leather jacket and pulling it tighter around her, letting her unused sleeve hang. It took a moment for her to lumber through the people to the register, but just about when she was going to pick up some food, a scream broke her tired mind and sent her in to full alert.
Daphne spun on her heels, about to draw her flip-knife but freezing when she saw the source of the issue. Her eyes widened a bit and she practically felt her heart skip a beat when the adrenaline kicked in. Her feet hit the ground running before she could react. "Move! MOVE!" She forced her way through the crowd, Telekinesis and her shoulder did wonders. And then she saw the source of the disturbance and her eyes widened. There in a pool of his own blood and stomach contents was the exact person she was supposed to meet... her friend Ben.
"Ben! Ben! SHIT!" She got down on her knees next to him. "Focus on me, got it? We'll get you too the hospital.. W-we will. SOMEONE CALL THE AMBULENCE DAMMIT!" The man stared up at Daphne before vomiting out blood next to her, splattering it on Daphne's face and making her flinch. Her mind entered his thoughts then. They were full of panic, regret, lingering on his mistakes. Daphne felt his panic. She felt his sadness. "Where is that damn ambulance...?" she asked, her voice weak and shaking, on the verge of crying.

As Zach continued to scan the paper in front of him, something ended up catching his eye: STRANGE DEATHS AT GENTLEMANS CLUB STUN POLICE. The veteran hunter raised his eyebrows questioningly at the headline as he read it, since it contained all the right words to make him take a second look at the article. As he began to read it, the waitress once again appeared at his side and set his drink down on the table. Just as Zach was about to turn and thank the young lady, a scream to his left instantly put him on edge as he whips his head to the side to see what caused it. He saw a young lad hit the ground and start vomiting up everything he had in his stomach and instantly stood up to make his way over, which apparently a lot of other witnesses had the same idea. Zach could see that there was some blood coming out of the poor bastard, so he quickly grabbed his phone out of his pocket and began to dial 911. “For Christ sakes, don’t crowd him!” Just as the 911 dispatcher came on the line, he could hear a young girl calling for people to move and suddenly it felt like he was shoved out of the way even though he was sure nobody had touched him. He blinked a few times and looked around, then rapidly gave the operator as much information as he could. Zach stared at the guy while he talked on the phone, and even after he hung up. A feeling of sadness started to creep into his gut, as it looked like the guy wasn’t going to be able to hold on long enough for paramedics to arrive. He started pushing his way through people, not yet noticing that one man seemed untroubled by all this and simply sipped his tea. It was then that Zach spied the girl next to him, and it was clear that she knew who he was. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her and the state she was in, and when she yells for someone to call an ambulance he answers in a firm yet sympathetic tone. “I did, lass…they’re on the way…”
He then kneels down on the sidewalk, not even flinching at the sight of the blood or vomit because god knows he’s seen plenty of both. “Here…let’s turn ‘im on his side so he doesn’ choke…” Due to his condition, Zach wasn’t sure how much this would help the poor bastard but he had to do something to try and help. As the sirens are heard and get closer, he can’t help but wonder what could cause such a reaction…being the suspicious hunter he was, he didn’t think it could have been by normal means. @koroshiya Daphne Martan

Quite the crowd. it was unfortunate that the poison was not faster acting, rather than create a scene on the road he would have much preferred he died in the bathrooms at the church. This worked just as well, though.
Koro was not particularly interested in the bustle of the crowds at the moment, nobody stood out to him so his gaze wandered. It scanned the streets, primarily, for his employer; or at least one of his goons. Somebody would check to make sure the job was done, he was certain. A few people could pass for a handler, but nobody stood out to him in particular. Sighing, he took a small sip of his tea.
The crowd was becoming annoying, and the sirens were getting louder. In fact, if he didn't need to ensure the target died, he would have been long gone. Perhaps it wasn't all for naught...
His gaze finding its way back to the group, he singled out a woman, clearly one who knew his target. A girlfriend? Wife? He hadn't seen a ring during the handshake, and his preliminary surveillance did not reveal a significant other... friend? The likeliest of the three options. Perhaps it was time to get involved.
Standing from his table, feigning concern very well, he made his way through the group.
"This man was just at mass with me, is he alright?" his eyebrows furrowing, he looked over the scene. He would be dead before the paramedics would have a hope of stabilizing him. "What happened to him?"
