Personality: Janessa is a hotheaded, tough, hardheaded woman. Born that way and proud of it. She isn't the most proper woman in the world, but she isn't the most impolite either. More or less, she's somewhere in between the two. Southern charm is pretty much her specialty which is where she gets her manners from. Janessa has a good head on her shoulders, despite having a heavy addiction to alcohol. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder years ago, so when you mix it with the alcohol, she has a tendency to blow a gasket from time to time. The woman may have some anger issues but she means well and tries to help anyone she feels needs it. If she feels someone deserves her help, she makes sure to help them even in the toughest situations. One of the most certain things about Janessa is she has no issue speaking her mind and letting others know what she thinks. Indecisiveness isn't in her vocabulary. She is also a pretty big tom-boy. You're lucky if you catch her dressing up from time to time, but she's more on the "one of the boys" side of things. Getting down in the mud, shot gunning a beer or two, shooting for fun and those type of things.

History: Janessa June Bucks is the first born to Robbie and Bethanne Bucks. Being born into a hunting family has never been easy on Janessa. Growing up, she was taught everything she needed to know about hunting, the supernatural world, and taking care of herself. Her family made sure she had the most normal childhood they could give her, but it still was never what a child should be raised into. Her father was gone on long hunting trips, sometimes, for extended periods of time and it was tough to have to sit and wonder when or even if he would make it home. Janessa knew what was out there and she was certainly aware of the dangers that her father faced each and every time he left home. She always felt this undeniable need to go with Robbie on his trips, to learn from him and protect him. When she was having to stay behind and go to school it drove her absolutely crazy. Being brought up with the knowledge of creatures and the supernatural world embedded some sort of deep hatred for the creatures she learned about and she was itching to just get out there and take care of things herself.
So, when she was eleven years old, her dad was getting ready to go on a trip that actually wasn't too far from where they lived and the got it in her head that she could sneak along and he would never notice. Janessa went out and got in his truck after saying goodbye to him and she slipped herself underneath the dark backseat. Her heart was racing from the excitement and probably just a tiny bit of fear. Robbie came out, got in the truck, and started heading his way from Murfreesboro Tennessee to Nashville without any clue that his daughter was sitting in the back seat. She fell asleep on the trip there and she didn't even budge until she started hearing gunshots close by. Her eyes shot open and her heart started flying. Janessa sat up and looked in the front seat to see that her dad wasn't in the truck, but a couple of his guns were. She immediately thought he could be in trouble and her first instinct was to grab the revolver sitting in the passenger seat. Gun in hand, she quickly got out of the truck and looked around for her dad. The only thing she could see was a couple of light poles and half built building surrounding her. She heard a growl coming from behind her and her body ran cold. Janessa slowly turned around to see a large dog standing before her. The dog lunged and she pulled the kick back on the gun. Before she could pull the trigger, the dog had ahold of her jeans and it started trying to drag her. She panicked for only a brief moment until her instincts kicked in. Her finger held down on the trigger and she aimed the gun at it's head before firing three rounds of silver bullets into it's head. The dog dropped dead on top of her legs and that's when she heard Robbie scream her name. He jerked her up and made sure she was okay, no bites or anything, before giving her the worst ass whooping of her life.
The moment she had when she was eleven years old sparked something in her. A talent, a rage, and also a deep interest. By the time Janessa had his sixteen years old, she had killed a dozen skinwalkers, and a few other creatures that had made their way to a notch in her belt. From age eleven, up to sixteen, her dad had started giving her more hands on training. He saw something in her that he felt like the world would need. Despite Bethanne's push back on teaching Janessa so early, Robbie got Janessa started on a strict path of learning. It was all Janessa thought about most moments she was awake. She started skipping school to go on hunting trips with her dad and she loved every second of it. There was nothing in this world that she couldn't take on and that would come back to bite her in the ass. In the summer of 2006, Robbie was hot on a case where women and children were going missing in Boone North Carolina. Janessa did her research with him and did everything Robbie needed her to do. He left her in the hotel room to keep researching some things while he went out to see if he could gather some more information. After hours of listening to the police scanner and reading through notebooks, Robbie called her and said he had pieced together that they were dealing with a shapeshifter. It was posing as fathers and husbands to lure in women and children for some sick reason. Her dad came and picked her up and they headed to the area that some of the people were last seen. They ended up coming across a cabin that was for sale in a little community. Chills were sent up her spine at the thought of possibly finding dead kids in this place but she pushed through it the best she could. She kept her gun in hand, having the same one she killed her first skinwalker with. Janessa and Robbie made their way into the cabin as quietly as possible and searched through. Janessa made her way down the basement and she could hear a kid crying. She started to panic a bit yet pushed on to the room she was hearing it from. A man was holding a little boy boy off the ground and she held the gun up. She thought she could get the shot off to put a silver bullet in the shapeshifter's head before he could move. Instead of her plan going in her favor, the shapeshifter turned and the bullet went through the little boy's chest. Her entire world crashed in that exact moment. Robbie run down to the basement when he heard the shot and he put a bullet between the shapeshifter's eyes before it could get to Janessa. She broke down and picked up the boy's body, carrying him out of the cabin. She didn't just take the life of an innocent, she took the life of a little boy. Her brothers flashed through her mind and it was destroying. Janessa took the kid's body back to his mom and his brother. Robbie explained the supernatural situation to the boy's mother and brother because Janessa just couldn't. They gave a tip to the cops to go check the cabin where they would find mangled bodies of those that went missing.
Janessa's life had changed forever that night in Boone and she developed a heavy drinking problem to try and cope with the fact that she killed a little boy. She started working odd jobs around Murfreesboro and sending the money back to the kid's mom and brother. One day, she got a letter in the mail from the boy's brother, Bailey. He told her about how his mom had killed herself and he didn't want Janessa to feel like she still had to send him money. But, she still did. They wrote back and forth to each other to just try and help each other out. The one thing that probably kept Janessa from going off the complete deep end was that Bailey never blamed her for what happened to his brother. He had actually started learning about the supernatural world himself due to the situation. An issue popped up with a case Robbie had been working and he had Bethanne help him with it. At that point, it was established that Janessa needed to take a break from hunting. She was having night terrors, she was staying intoxicated, and she wasn't seeing the world clearly. Her mama and daddy thought it would be best if she stayed off of this case. It was something Robbie had been watching closely for a while and he was afraid Janessa would fly off the hinges if she went back to hunting so soon. Five days before her seventeenth birthday, Robbie and Bethanne left her with the twins so she could watch them until they got back. She sat in her room while her aunt and uncle came over to cook for her, Grayson, and Jason. She started getting dizzy while she was moving some books around and she started seeing a vision. Her mom and dad behind hanged in a large tree outside of an old colonial looking house with hoodoo symbols carved into their skin. The very first premonition Janessa ever had. She started screaming for Tanner and he came running. She explained to him what she saw and they needed to get ahold of Robbie and Bethanne. The feeling in her gut was one she had never felt before and it caused her to get so sick that she could barely stand. Tanner finally got in touch with a hunter that was on the case with them and he found out that his sister and brother in law were killed by the witches they were after. The hunter found their bodies and brought them and Robbie's truck back to Janessa and her family. They had a hunter's funeral for them both and she had to spend her seventeenth birthday without her parents.
After the death of her parents, Janessa really flew off the hinges. She completely quit school and started hunting full time. She was killing anything and everything she could hunt down and get rid of. Bethanne's brother Tanner and his wife Kara moved in with the kids to take care of them, especially Grayson and Jason because they were only ten. Tanner begged Janessa to stop because she was going down a destructive path. Mania was mixing with alcohol and she was uncontrollable. The level-headed young girl was now just a killing machine and she wasn't stopping for anything. She made her way to Boone North Carolina once again, but to visit Bailey this time. She asked him if he'd want to go on a hunt with him in Raleigh and he gratefully accepted. This trip though, had demons involved. At nineteen years old, Janessa almost got herself killed by getting in a little too deep in situation with more demons than she'd handled before. Bailey was the only thing that kept her from getting killed. She had broken ribs, a broken arm, and bruises all over her body. Having walked in on a meeting of demons and almost getting killed, it gave Janessa the wake up call that she needed. She realized that being as reckless as she was and going into dangerous jobs intoxicated was going to be her end. With Bailey's help, she sobered up some. Not completely because she honestly just couldn't. But, she found a good medium.
Janessa went on through the years hunting, but not as erratically as she had in her younger years. She made connections with other hunters and continued working cases here and there with Bailey. Her brothers slowly got into the hunting world having grown up the same way she had and known the reality of what happened to their parents. A few years after Robbie and Bethanne died, Janessa got the information from the hunter that was on the case with them and she decided it was time for her to face her fears. With Bailey, Grayson, and Jason with her, she tracked down the house she saw in her premonition and made her way to it. They were stealthy about how they entered the house, watching for any traps they needed to look out for. At the end of that night, each and every witch residing there that had a hand in killing her parents were dead. She had even hanged one, strangling them until they suffocated. The dark side in Janessa had tortured that witch and she had no regrets about it. She didn't need a premonition to see that she was going to slaughter them all. Her premonitions still occurred as she got older and she never could explain it or pinpoint it. But, they actually saved her life in a few situations.
With age, Janessa found her happy medium. Drinking to cope with her issues and to help her sleep and staying skilled at her job but staying as safe as she could. She had, and still has, her irrational manic moments where she explodes but she believes it's just who she is and there's no fixing it. Medicine isn't an option with the drinking she likes to do now. So, she uses her rage as a weapon for herself. It keeps her moving in some ways.
