Personality: Steve is kind of a lazy, laid-back, let life pass you by sort of guy. He doesn't really like to put a whole lot of effort into anything, instead focusing on things that he is naturally good at. This doesn't mean that he won't put in 110% effort when he is asked to do something, but he usually won't be the first to volunteer for a job either. He likes when rules and guidelines are in place because he likes knowing what to expect and it grates on his nerves when things don't happen like he expects them to.
He tends to be a sort of class clown type, cracking jokes or sarcastic comments, playing pranks or practical jokes or even doing something to embarrass himself if it will lighten the mood and make someone smile or laugh. Steven tends to act as a mediator not only between his brother and sister but among his friends as well. He is very much the 'can't we all just get along' type. He usually finds it pretty easy to let things go. He feels like life is too short to hold grudges or really to hold hard feelings for long at all. Sure, it's okay to get angry, or hurt, but don't dwell on the negative.
Here's a straw. Now suck it up.

History: Growing up, Steven didn't take the whole 'hunting' thing as seriously as his Dad probably would have liked him to. He's always been the lazy sort, not really wanting to put forth too much effort into anything. This was something that often got him in trouble and it was his uncle Sam that he ended up bonding with quite a bit. Sam knew what it was like to not want any part of the family business, and Steven often felt he could confide in him. It wasn't that Sam justified his lack of initiative and work ethic, but he did offer him a supportive ear and did his best to be encouraging.
When he was ten years old, Steven was out with his dad and older brother shooting cans for target practice. Steve wasn't a great shot because honestly, he couldn't be bothered and he found the task quite boring. That is until he decided to take a break, telling them he was going to 'go sit over there' and when he pointed, the front tire of his father's prized possession, that beautiful '67 Impala just popped... almost exploded actually (it wasn't the only thing that exploded... you wouldn't believe how much the vein in Dean's forehead can pop..). That was the first manifestation of one of his abilities.
The other happened not long after he graduated from the school. He was going out with his brother and sister to celebrate. Steven was behind the wheel, had always been a good driver really, but suddenly everything in his vision just went black. He panicked, screamed, lost control of the vehicle, convinced that he had been stricken blind. Luckily DJ had good reflexes and managed to take control of the wheel while Steven slammed on the brakes with a lead foot, staring blankly out the windshield, his eyes wide and stunned. It wasn't until a white blur of movement in his vision caused him to blink and jerk back a little as Mary Beth waved a hand in front of his face that his vision eventually cleared. It wasn't just darkness that he was seeing, it was a telescopic view of the night sky. Thankfully no one was hurt that night.
When his father and uncle were taken and executed, it was the most devastating thing he could ever have imagined going through. Steven never shed a tear in front of anyone else though, instead putting on his brave face in order to be there for the rest of his family. His mom slipping into a coma shortly after that was the straw that broke the camel's back though, and he started to become more isolated, not wanting to deal with anything around him. He started to become withdrawn from his family and friends and would only come out of his room when he was ordered to do so.
When the school was attacked, it took everything within him not to just surrender. He was ready to give up. But one look at DJ and Mary Beth that day and he knew he had to keep fighting. So he fought his way to that lobby just in time to somehow end up in the middle of nowhere with the rest of their small group...

Beth glanced over at the passenger seat as she pulled into the gas station. They had been driving for nearly six hours and Dean had been asleep for about two of them. It had been two days since she first met him back in Michigan and honestly, she was amazed that he had stuck around. Grateful... but amazed. Dean had so far proven to be quite interesting company... not to mention eye candy for the road that didn't give her a stomach ache or cavities.
The gas station was so empty that Beth almost wasn't sure if the pumps even worked anymore. There was a lone dusty green pickup truck parked in the very back corner of the gravel parking lot that ran alongside the small convenience store. The filling area looked to be the only section that was paved, and it was old, cracked pavement at that. She considered waking Dean in case he needed to use the restroom but she decided against it. Even if he did need to make a pit stop, she doubted he'd want to do it in a smelly, cockroach-infested gas station bathroom.
Beth pulled up to the pump and shut off the engine, looking over at him once more. Two nights ago she had kissed him and run out before giving him a chance to reject her. They hadn't talked about the kiss since then and he hadn't given any sign of clue that it even phased him. If Dean was at all intrigued or repulsed by that one little display of affection, he was very good at not letting it show.
She got out of her car and closed the car door, walking around to look at the pump and frowning when she realized there was no credit card reader. With a sigh she hoisted her bag onto her shoulder and went inside to prepay. There was a fairly young guy slouching at the counter and looking far too tired or too stoned to work there... it was hard to tell which. Beth decided to wander around the store to gather up a few snacks for the road. She needed to stretch her legs anyway.
