"To die would be an awfully big adventure" (Peter Pan)
Likes (At Least 3):
❤ helping people Jack is of firm belief that his purpose in this world is to make it better for others, from saving lives to passing a cup of coffee to a tired companion to giving someone in need enough money for lunch.
❤ socialization Jack loves people and is very much an extravert. He draws his energy from being around others, which can be hard to get on the road.
❤ adventure Jack loves the rush of adrenaline of a hunt or heist and doesn't know any other way to live. He's never had a chance at an apple-pie life, but he doubts he would ever want it.
❤ risk As high-stakes situations are all Jack knows, he finds them rather addictive. The idea that he could die on a hunt is often exciting.
❤ pancakes Small things in life like a good meal, particularly of pancakes, make Jack feel right at home. He often cooks in large amounts, so he can share with whoever he runs into.
Dislikes (At Least 3):
✗ feeling useless When hunting, Jack can get a restless feeling like he needs to be doing something to help the world. His drive can cause him to 'jump the gun' on things at times.
✗ the mundane Jack has little patience for ordinary life and quite literally cannot imagine himself getting out of hunting for good.
✗ that foggy-headed feeling one gets from not using one's own intelligence for too long Hunting and theft are sorts of mental exercises for Jack. He keeps logic and critical thinking sharp this way and doesn't like sitting around and not thinking, often keeping himself occupied with logical puzzles and the like between hunts.
Fears (At Least 2):
☬ loss of loved ones The Took family often looked after Jack when he was a child and his father, Paul, was hunting. Jack holds each of the Tooks dearly and would lay anything down to protect them.
☬ death (sometimes) Jack does not often fear for his own life. Risking it is all-too familiar, but there are times when even Jack fears mortality and the inevitable truth that some day, his time will be up.
Goals (At Least 1):
★ make the world a better place Of the firm belief that he was put on the earth for a reason, Jack works every day to help others in every way he can.
Personality: Jack Knight is highly extroverted and fundamentally charismatic but can be socially awkward at times, sometimes missing social queues or giving too much honesty for his own good. He is a loving person who can be described as 'aggressively friendly', often attaching himself to people more than they wish for him to right off the bat. His love for others is unyielding even if it can scare those he interacts with. To put it in D&D alignment terms, Jack is "chaotic, good".
Traits
[/b][/font]
✧ loyal Jack holds immense loyalty to those he loves and would do anything needed for them. The people with such loyalty who remain alive are primarily members of the Took family.
✧ loving Jack gets attached to people quickly and cares for even strangers.
✧ generous Fancying himself a sort of Robin Hood, Jack steals from those who he sees as having much more than they need. Jack gives much of what he gains to those less fortunate to help them get by in addition to supporting himself.
✧ genuine While Jack does lie about his name and personal details for hunts, safety, etc., he doesn't like to lie about who he is as a person and doesn't deceive people unless necessary.
Negatives:
✦ disregards laws and rules Jack does not consider other people's codes to necessarily be part of his own. He follows his own moral compass rather than laws and rules.
✦ extreme in opinions and emotions Like how quickly he comes to care for people, Jack may form a very negative opinion quickly if the situation fits.
✦ anger issues Due to the intensity of his feelings, when Jack gets mad, it's intense and he often cannot predict his own actions.
✦ blunt Jack's honesty about his feelings and opinions can be off-putting to some.

Parents: Paul Winston Knight (father) deceased, Ella Charlotte Long (mother) estranged
Siblings:
Other Family:
Important Others: Took Family (family of original characters I intend to submit later)
History:
Jack never knew his mother, Ella Long; she passed Jack off to his father just after giving birth to him. Jack's father, Paul, raised Jack on the road as that was all Paul knew. He wanted to give his son a better life than he'd had, but it was never an option. When Jack was very young, Paul would leave him with friends, such as the Took family, when he went on hunts, but soon found that Jack was a big help on the road. Jack, being small and agile, could sneak into places to look around, bring things back for his father, or let Paul into buildings from the inside. It wasn't long before Jack was learning how to kill what his father hunted, how to survive.
Tragically, when Jack was 17, he lost his father on a hunt, and had to raise himself from there. The boy traveled in his father's old car and did what his father taught him to do, to help people. Jack hunted in his father's memory and stole to survive, much as he had when his father was alive. As Jack became a man, he honed his skills in hunting and in theft, (or "expert treasure-hunting" as he liked to call it.) He missed his father dearly, but the yolk of childhood was broken away, and he held his father's memory close, knowing that the most important lesson the man ever taught him wasn't how to hunt or how to survive but who to be.

Jack Knight was on the road again, in his father's old, black 1992 Ford Explorer. He glanced at the passenger's seat for a moment as he drove, missing his father by his side. It was times like these when Jack needed most to talk to Paul, times when Jack was alone. He didn't do well away from people, and life on the road could be a lonely one. It had been nice to have a partner, a mentor, a family. "Dad," Jack said aloud, voice breaking with the word, "I did good stuff today. I helped a kid." He took a deep breath, tapping the wheel with his thumb as he drove.
Jack thought back to the boy he'd seen in a pawn shop. Jack had been there to sell some jewelry from a chain store he'd broken into the previous night, but seeing the kid tore Jack's mind away from money. The little guy couldn't have been more than ten years old, and he'd come in alone. "Whatcha up to?" Jack had asked him casually, not wanting to intimidate him. Still, the kid hadn't answered, not right away, so Jack started a story. "I know I'm going to sound even older than I am for this, but when I was your age, my dad used to take me to places like this all the time. We'd trade in stuff we found, and we'd always go out to lunch after to celebrate."
"My dad left," the kid answered, "Mom's at work, if that's what you're worried about."
"A little worried, sure," Jack answered, "You being here alone and all, but I've gotta ask. What's your mom like? I never knew mine."
At that, the kid looked up to face Jack. "She's great," he answered, "Works a lot, though."
Jack nodded. "My dad did, too," he told the boy, "I remember being stuck with some family friends a lot. They were great, too, but I missed my dad."
The kid looked down as he nodded, "I get it," he told Jack before looking down again, admitting, "I miss her a lot." Jack could see the kid biting his quivering lip like he was trying to hold back tears.
"You know, one of the most important things my dad ever taught me," Jack said, "Is that it's OK to feel. Sometimes I'd cry, and he never told me to 'man up'. He just sat with me." As Jack spoke, he took a seat and looked to the kid, who sat beside him, now allowing the tears to flow. They sat like that for a while, not speaking, just being.
After thinking through the whole interaction, Jack glanced at the seat behind him again, saying, "So, uh, thanks dad. For teaching me what it means to be a man."
