History: Kadence comes from a long line of hunters and while her parents were not as active about chasing down leads, they did take care of anything that happened to come close to their town and trained their daughter in these techniques. To Kadence, training was as ordinary as her science homework, she loved both. While most of those at school thought she was a shy nerdy girl, Kadence was actually very adept with various methods of hunting by middle school. Where most girls were interested in cheerleading or boys, she wanted knives, bows, and guns.
When Kadence was eleven, her parents were blessed with a son, Cody. Kadence adored her little brother and looked forward to one day helping to train him. One night, when Kadence had almost turned sixteen, she was charged with babysitting her brother while her parents went out to help some fellow hunters go after a particularly nasty demon. She knew the rules, no friends over when there is an active hunt and no boys over anytime when her parents were not there; but on this night, she broke these rules. It was some silly boy from school who had asked to come over to “study chemistry”. Wanting time alone with her friend, Kadence sent Cody to bed earlier than usual and started getting some snacks together while her friend supposedly waited.
What she didn’t know was going to hurt her and change her life forever...Her friend had been possessed by the demon and snuck up to Cody’s room while she was distracted. After hearing a window break upstairs, Kadence raced up the stairs to find that the demon had thrown Cody and himself out of the window, killing both boys. Kadence has spent the years since living with the guilt of knowing that if she had just rescheduled that “study” night, her brother might still be alive.
The next few years, Kadence tried to make up for what had happened by taking a more pro-active approach to her hunting, actually leaving her town and going out on her own for a bit. It was during these hunts that she met others, like Scott Jacobs. She met Scott when she was seventeen and had recently finished her high school credits online. He told her about his daughter, Bethany, and her ignorance of all things supernatural. Apparently, he had been trying to keep an eye on her but was having difficulties doing so from afar. Seeing an opportunity to make up for what happened to her brother, Kadence offered to pretend to be Beth’s friend in order to keep her safe.
The pretending did not last long, however, once the girls were roomed together in college and realized that they got along splendidly. Over the next several years, the girls became more like sisters. While the two shared many of their secrets, including Beth’s recurring dreams, Kadence never told her about having met her father or why she really was there.
After the girls graduated, Beth started investigating her dreams and who the strange man was that she dreamt of each night. Kadence suspected that the man was Scott, but never said anything to Beth as it was not her secret to tell. During one of these investigations, Kadence was trailing Beth when a couple of vampires ambushed her. By the time Kadence was able to get away from the vampires, Beth was long gone and she’s been keeping an ear open for anything about her friend ever since.

RP Sample: If this were a different night, different situation and a different person, Alyssa might have found the way the moon shone down to be quite beautiful, but the only good thing that came out of it tonight was it effectively eliminated the need for flashlights. Her shaky right hand held a gun loaded with silver bullets as she walked swiftly down the street, Jake in her peripheral vision, the pair would have appeared as mirror images if not for obvious reasons. Her boots barely made a sound as they approached the entrance to an alley, Alyssa looking over at Jake as if to say “This one?”
A slight nod was all the answer she got as she slowed down, watching as Jake crossed the street towards her, both of their eyes darting around alert and cautious. Alyssa followed behind her partner, making sure to shoot glances behind them, not knowing if their prey would attack from behind or not. This wasn’t an easy job for her, in her mind this was an innocent boy who didn’t ask for this disease nor was even aware that he had it and yet she knew that he wouldn’t see another sunrise.
A shiver ran down her spine as the breeze picked up slightly, leaves rustling past them along with the faintest hint of wet dog. Her blonde ponytail whipped against her cheek as she turned around, the sight greeting her had her locked with fear, “Jake….behind us.” Now they had nowhere to go, the alley ended in a dead end behind them and in front of them was their intended prey. This definitely was not going as she had expected.
It was hard to find that sympathy she had felt earlier when she was face to face with the beast and found herself being thrown to the ground, her body instinctively rolling away quickly as her gun flew out of her hands. As Alyssa looked up, she saw Jake aim his gun at the beast and squeeze the trigger, only to hear him say something about, “Piece of shit gun.” The only thought she had at that moment was that if she didn’t do something, one of two things was going to happen, Jake was going to get hurt or worse he would die, neither of which she was willing to allow.
Alyssa got to her knees quickly, she knew this would be weaker than she was able to do but it would buy them a little bit of time. She could feel energy pulsing through her as she focused on the werewolf, watching as he flew back away from Jake and into the middle of the street. That was not going to hold him off for long, she thought as she ran to grab her gun and yelled at Jake, “Come on, let’s finish this.” Tossing her gun his way, he was the better shot after all.
Her head felt slightly dizzy from using her powers and from the slight aching she suspected she’d hit it on the ground as well, but she’d worry about that later, right now Alyssa had all her energy focused on two things, the werewolf that was coming back and Jake who was walking towards the beast leaving more distance between the pair than she liked.
As if sensing an opening, the werewolf crouched down low before springing into the air, landing in the space between the two hunters, with all of his focus on the blonde. Oh dear lord, Jake, don’t miss this, Alyssa pleaded silently as she braced herself, her green eyes trying not to look into the beast’s, afraid she’d find the boy inside. Her arms came up to shield her face as she heard the unmistakable sound of a gunshot ring through the empty silence. The only sound to be heard was a plopping sound as the werewolf hit the pavement, a hole through it’s brain.
She lowered her arms to see Jake smiling as he walked back towards her, looking down periodically at his kill. “See, I told you there was nothing to worry about.” Alyssa smirked back, “Who was worried?” She reached up to smooth back an errant piece of hair only to find something gooey sticking to her fingers, “Oh come on…Seriously…Why am I always the one who ends up with the nasty evil things brains in my hair?” Alyssa could have sworn that she heard laughter as she bent down to pick up the jammed gun and then stalked off towards the car.
