Full Name: Bethany Leigh Clark
Nickname/Alias: Beth
Age/Date Of Birth: 25 (January 12, 1988)
Race: Human
Occupation: Forensic Scientist/2nd Generation Deva
Species Group: Psychic
Play-By: Jennifer Lawrence
Abilities
Bethany has the ability of dream-walking. She can enter a person's mind through dreams and access their subconscious thoughts or memories. She can even manipulate the dream's environment to her will to a certain degree. Through roleplay, I plan for this ability to become much stronger. I also plan for her to eventually be able to actually pull certain things from a dream into the waking world.
Beth has the ability to put someone to sleep just with a touch to the forehead, much like the way angels can.

Personality: Typically, Beth is the sort of girl who likes to be in the middle of the action. She loves a good mystery and solving a problem, whether it be a simple puzzle to helping a friend with a personal issue. She likes to be involved and she wants to know what's going on. If she knows that there are secrets being kept from her, she tends to get annoyed and offended, and usually takes it personally.
Beth has been an active person all her life and she gets uneasy if she is idle for too long. It doesn't have to be a strenuous activity... a simple walk will do but she is definitely no couch potato. This doesn't mean that she doesn't enjoy a good movie or the occasional sleep-in, but she isn't exactly a healthy eater so she makes sure to be active in order to keep her body looking the way it does.
When it comes to danger, she will gladly risk life and limb for someone she cares about, but is more hesitant when it comes to a stranger to put herself in harm's way. It's not that she won't try to help but there's a difference between pushing someone out from in front of a train and shouting 'Hey look out, there's a train!' She's bold and brave but definitely not suicidal and doesn't have a hero complex.

History: When Bethany was just a baby, her young father enlisted in the U.S. Army and was eventually sent overseas to Iraq. It was during the time of the Persian Gulf War, and though it wasn't an easy decision, he felt it was his duty to serve his country. Unfortunately, a traumatic experience left him injured and paranoid, and even after being sent home with a Purple Heart, he had become obsessed with what had happened to him, claiming that the attack on his platoon had been executed by a group of vicious individuals with black eyes... foreigners who had called him by name and even had made threats against his young daughter.
When he returned from Iraq, Scott Jacobs experienced paranoia and nightmares that often led to violent outbursts and was diagnosed, of course, with PTSD. Though he never physically his family, Bethany's mother lived in constant fear of it. She decided that she couldn't risk her daughter being around a ticking time bomb, and she left with a two-year-old Bethany and a suitcase in the middle of the night.
Her mother re-married about a year later, and Beth grew up in an average, all-American household with her mother and the man she believed up until recently to be her father, as well as a younger brother. She had a fairly uneventful childhood... plenty of friends, active lifestyle. She enjoyed a good run of high school popularity because people wanted to be around her not only because she was the cheer captain, but also because she was a warm, easy person to be around. Bethany's mother had done her best to raise her daughter to be an honest, caring, and nurturing individual, and she lived a life that made her parents proud.
Thanks to a cheerleading scholarship, Bethany attended college and eventually obtained an Associate's Degree in Forensic Science. It was around this time that her visions started happening. At first, she thought of it as a strange, repetitive dream... always of a young man holding a baby. She dreamed the same dream night after night, and each time the dream was just a bit longer and a bit more revealing. She found it quite strange that she would be dreaming of some stranger and his child that she didn't recognize, until the moment a much younger version of her mother stepped into the scene and kissed the man, taking the baby from him.
Bethany confronted her mother about this, but was told emphatically that it was only a dream, and that she shouldn't worry so much. But something wasn't sitting right with her, and on her next visit to her parents' home, she did some snooping around. On a high shelf in her mother's closet, she found a shoebox full of photos, her birth certificate, and other evidence of her birth father, including a silver cross pendant that she remembered seeing around his neck in her dream. Bethany's mother was forced to come clean about her birth father, including the story of his traumatic experience in Iraq and why she had been separated from him.
Beth put her forensics career on hold and began researching and investigating signs that there was any truth behind her birth father's story about the black-eyed individuals who had ambushed his platoon. Day by day, she became more engrossed and involved in the supernatural world, uncovering evidence that she found impossible to ignore, learning as she goes while she searches for her father in hopes of reconnecting with him over twenty years later.

Okay so the diner itself was more than a little embarrassing. After all, who wanted to offer to buy a good-looking man something to eat only for it to turn out to be a place with a purple dinosaur on the sign? But when she had checked into the motel, the man at the front desk had insisted that she try this place at some point during her visit. "Best bacon cheeseburgers this side of the Mississippi," he had promised. At least Dean didn't seem too put off by it... but hopefully this wouldn't just turn out to be a big joke.
She thanked Dean for holding the door open as she stepped past him and into the diner, adjusting her bag on her shoulder as she took a look around the place. There were only a few random people scattered about the room... an old man sitting at the counter, a couple sharing a milkshake near the window, and a group of three teenage girls all sitting in a booth to the side, gossiping and giggling. The decor was nothing special really... cheap tile floors and old wooden benches padded with multi-colored fabric. There was a dry-erase board just inside the door that listed the specials of the day (including, of course, the famous bacon-cheeseburger) and a black sign on a stand that read: PLEASE SEAT YOURSELF in bold, white lettering.
Bethany gave Dean a quick glance to see if he had a preference, but he wasn't ushering her anywhere in particular, so she headed toward a booth in the back corner as far away from prying eyes and ears as possible. There were plastic-coated menus tucked behind the napkin dispenser on the table, and she slid into one side of the booth and grabbed one, unfolding it and looking it over as she began to tell Dean her story.
"I'm just going to be blunt and come right out with it," she said in a low voice as her eyes scanned the menu. "About six months ago I started having this dream... about a man and a baby. It was the same dream... night after night, only each night the dream was a little bit longer... as if my mind were allowing me to see just a little bit more of the scene." She glanced up at him to check that he was paying attention before continuing. "After about a week of having this dream, the scene had unfolded enough that I finally saw a women enter the room, kiss the man, and take the baby from him. It was my mom... a much younger version of my mom, but it was her." She sighed softly, closing her eyes. "I confronted her about it and that's when she told me about him... about how she had taken me away from him when I was a child."
It was at this time that a bubbly blonde pony-tailed waitress approached their table, asking if they had decided what to order. She was chewing gum obnoxiously and kept batting her eyelashes at Dean. Beth just thought she was ridiculous.
