Full Name: Leonard James Carter Nickname/Alias: Leo Age/Date Of Birth: 37 (July 25, 1977) Race: Human Occupation: Drifter/Father/Criminal Species Group: First Generation Deva Play-By: Jake Gyllenhaal
Solar Embodiment -
Leo’s ability comes from the sun itself. When he got the deva drug, he suddenly had a strange connection to the ball of fire in the sky. He’s able to do many different things thanks to this special connection and is able to do even more due to a ritual he and his son were put under by his ex-wife.
Gravity Manipulation - Leo is able to pull and push objects with gravity, his gravitational powers are much stronger than his son’s.
Light Manipulation - Leo is able to manipulate bright light, being able to make is as bright as the sun. He cannot create blasts or anything damaging with this.
Electromagnetism Manipulation - Leo can create, shape and manipulate electromagnetism which (with the exception of gravitation) account for almost all physical phenomena observable to the unaided human senses, including light and other electromagnetic radiation, all of chemistry, most of mechanics (excepting gravitation), and of course magnetism and electricity.
Only When The Sun Is Up:
Fire Manipulation - Leo can create, shape and manipulate the fire of the sun, releasing heat close to the actual star, and light. Because of this he is fire proof. He has to be careful when he uses this ability because of how intense it is… It can hurt anyone around him and possibly burn the terrain or building, wherever he is, around him.
Solar Empowerment - Leo becomes stronger, faster, more durable, etc. when he comes into contact with sunlight.
Ritual Abilities (Abilities Due To The Ritual):
The Sun is associated with the conscious ego, the self and its expression, personal power, pride, and authority; leadership qualities; and the principles of creativity, spontaneity, health, and vitality, the sum of which is named the "life force".
Illusion Awareness - Leo is completely aware at all times of the true reality around him, potentially seeing through any optical and/or mental illusions that others attempt to deceive him with.
Healing - Leo can restore biotic organisms to their optimal health, curing damaged or withered organisms, wounds, broken bones, low vitality, and diseases/poisoning. Though Leo may potentially heal any form of bodily damage, the patient must be alive, even if hanging by a thin thread, in order to be healed; once the patient has died, it would transcend healing and would require resurrection instead.
On Angel Blood:
Supernova Inducement - Leo is able to self destruct, causing a supernova and destroying everything within a miles radius. If he loses control and his power gets out of hand he might do this without trying.
Radiation Manipulation - Leo can create, shape and manipulate radioactivity, the process by which a nucleus of an unstable atom loses energy by emitting particles of ionizing radiation. A material that spontaneously emits this kind of radiation, which includes the emission of energetic alpha particles, beta particles, and gamma rays, is considered radioactive.
The health risk associated with exposure to a particular radionuclide will depend on the radiation emitted and its chemical behavior. Beta and gamma radiations can penetrate through the skin and may pose an external radiation hazard, but the main concern generally is the entry of radionuclides into the body by inhalation and ingestion. Intake will lead to dose delivery to the respiratory and alimentary tracts, and absorption into the blood followed by entry into other organs and tissues.
Mind Control - Leo can control the minds of others with targets being completely subject to their mental control. If the victims were placed into a semi-conscious state, they may not have any recollection of the previous actions that they performed while under its effect.
- Leo and his son Dante are linked due to the ritual his mother did to them. Due to this any damage done to him will be done to his son and any damage done to his son will be done to him.
- If he uses too much of his solar ability he risks the possibility of literally becoming a miniature sun and if on angel blood he could explode as a miniature supernova. When this happens his body will start to convert into bright fire and then he will begin to pull everything to him with a strong gravitational pull but it will crush into nothing or burn up before reaching him.
- His abilities are weakened when it is not day time.
- His abilities can be very dangerous for others around him and the environment.

Personality: Leo was raised to believe that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to as long as you were willing to work hard and fight for it. He's always tried to instill this point of view into his son as well, but Dante's mother didn't always make that easy because she was so wrapped up in witchcraft that she would use it any way she could as a shortcut for even the small things in life. And recently, he's come to find out that working hard for what you want and need doesn't always mean following the rules or the law, but he tells himself that all of the stealing and breaking and entering, etc, is all just a means to provide for his son... that the outside world has given him no other choice. Still, the life of a criminal isn't one that Leo ever wanted to lead, and he tries to make up for any crimes he commits by doing something good to hopefully keep his karma balanced.
Leo's son Dante comes first and foremost to him, no matter what. He would sacrifice anything and everything so that Dante can have a life that is fulfilling and safe. He strives to teach his son right and wrong, to help him hone his ever-increasing abilities, feeling that by training him in their use, Dante will better be able to manage and control them. It's because of this that Leo can sometimes seem strict and overbearing, even though he does his best to keep his own fear from controlling them both.
Positives (At Least 3): ✧ loyal ✧ determined ✧ brave
Negatives (At Least 3): ✦ stressed ✦ strict ✦ can be a bit paranoid
Parents: Paul and Georgina Carter Siblings: N/A Other Family: his son, Dante Carter, his ex-wife Sidney Important Others: N/A History:
Growing up, the Carter family didn't really have much to write home about. His mother was a housewife and his father worked a regular 9-5 blue collar job as a licensed contractor. They lived comfortably but modest and even though Leo didn't have all of the best that money could by, he never found himself wanting for anything. He had a good home and a loving family, parents who taught him to be a good, hard-working man.
When he met and fell for a girl named Sidney French in high school, she wasn't exactly someone that they approved of. She was a bit of a wild child, very anti-authority and they definitely didn't like the fact that she encouraged Leo to bend the rules. Since he started dating her he started to become more distant and unruly and by the time graduation came, her influence had become so heavy over him that his grades had slipped to the point where he barely managed to graduate. Any chance at going to a good college was out the door, but Leo was so enraptured by Sidney that he couldn't have cared less. As soon as he turned 18 he and Sidney eloped and then moved into a modest one bedroom apartment. It wasn't easy to make ends meet and Leo took on every odd job he could manage to do so, but over time the bills kept piling up and they fell behind in their rent and were being threatened with eviction.
He went to his parents for help but they insisted that he needed to find a way to work it out for himself. He had made his bed and now he needed to lie in it. He continued to take on more work and responsibility but he was struggling to keep up with the expenses of marred life. He wanted badly to provide for his wife, so when the opportunity arose for him to participate in a paid drug trial he jumped at the chance.
It was a couple of years later when their son Dante was born. He was Leo's absolute pride and joy. Over the next several years Leo continued to try to be a good husband and especially a good father. He and his parents gradually mended fences while at the same time he began noticing Sidney's ever-growing thirst for more power. She was especially eerily inspired when Dante started showing signs of developing strange abilities, not unlike his father. By the time Dante had become a teenager Sidney's obsession with experimenting with their son with her witchcraft had gotten out of hand and, after an extremely heated argument, he kicked her out of the house. Sidney was never to be seen or heard from again, at least so far.
Then came a day when Dante did something that, although Leo understood his desire to use his abilities to do some good, got them into a lot of trouble. His son's face became one that was seen all over the media because he had actually brought a burn victim back to life and it had been seen by many witnesses and caught on camera. Things seemed good at first until their once run-of-the-mill, calm, normal lives were constantly disrupted by news reporters, fans, and people just looking for miracle handouts. And when a hunter sneaked into their home and took Leo and Dante hostage, threatening to kill his son, Leo used his abilities to turn the tables on the man, knocking him out and tying him up.
He gave Dante five minutes to pack everything he could manage into a suitcase and the two of them set out onto the road, on the run from media, hunters, demons and the like... knowing that life would never be the same again.
So sometime mid-summer she had started looking for employment, anxious to have a little bit of time out of the house doing what she loved. Unfortunately Sioux Falls only had one elementary school and the only vacancy they had in their staff was to teach the fifth grade. Ten and eleven-year-olds weren't the age group that she was used to but she had the skills and even found herself a bit excited at the prospect of a new challenge that didn't involve something grotesque and supernatural.
Throughout the day things seemed fine... perfect really... maybe even too perfect. The students were all extremely well-behaved. In fact, some of them sat straight in their desks and watched her the entire day without moving a muscle, except when she would call on them to answer questions. And even then, they didn't crack even a hint of a smile. In fact, there had been no expression in their faces nor in the tones of their voices. Creepy? Yeah, you could say that.
Annali was beyond ready for the end of the day when it came. She tidied up the room as the children were dismissed via car, bus, or to walk home from school. Her back was turned to the class as she cleaned off her chalkboard, and she let out a sigh of relief as she heard what she was sure were the last footsteps out of the room until she turned around, startled to find those six stoic children sitting patiently in their seats, their eyes locked on her as though waiting for her to perform some sort of trick. She blinked, eyebrows furrowing in confusion as she slid into the chair behind her desk and asked them about their transportation home. Apparently these children were waiting for their parents to pick them up and claimed they would be called to the front office when they arrived.
At first Annali didn't feel any sort of threat. She suggested they all read quietly or start on their homework while they waited, and then she pulled out a paperback novel herself and opened it on her desk, reading quietly. But something just felt strange, and after about ten minutes of pure silence she looked up from her book to see that none of them had moved... that they were still watching her. She bit her lip, her stomach turning a little uneasily. It wasn't as though these children were misbehaving but the way they were watching her was making her extremely uncomfortable. She needed to get away from their prying eyes, if only for a few minutes.
Annali opened one of her desk drawers and gathered a few papers with a bit of writing on them and stood, smoothing down her long, flowing crimson silk skirt. She flashed the creepy students a nervous smile and started making her way towards the door. "I'll be right back. I just need to go make some copies," she told them, hoping her unease didn't show in her voice. But as soon as she approached the door and reached for the doorknob, one of the students was suddenly in front of her, blocking her path. "I don't think that's a very good idea, Miss MacPherson," Jeff warned her. He was a tall boy, with shaggy blonde hair that looked like he had cut it himself and piercing dark eyes that bore right into her.
She stepped back, her blue eyes widening. "Excuse me? Move out of the way please," she frowned, reaching for the door again. This time she pulled the door open just slightly only for Jeff to slam it shut again.
"I said that isn't a good idea," he said with a low growl. Annali shuddered at the look in his eyes and looked around, swallowing a lump in her throat when she noticed the other five children were out of their seats and were slowly making their way toward her like zombies in an old horror film.
"This isn't funny. Back to your seats everyone," she ordered, trying to sound stern as she backed slowly away from the approaching children. She wasn't surprised that they didn't do as they were told but as she looked around, she realized she had nowhere to go. Sure there were plenty of objects around her that she could use to defend herself but Annali was sure she could never bring herself to strike a child, even in self defense.
The six zombie-like children continued to move toward her, backing her slowly into a corner of the room, and she whimpered as she slid her hand into the pocket of the cardigan she wore, quickly hitting up Dean on speed dial and then shouting for the children to get away from her. She didn't dare bring the phone out of her pocket but she knew that if Dean would answer and could hear that something was wrong... he would come to her rescue. He always did...
