Likes (At Least 3):
❤ Frogs - he enjoys listening to their evening songs.
❤Thunderstorms - He finds the thunder soothing with how it drowns out other sounds, and the smell of rain also helps to soothe him.
❤Lavender- Anything lavender scented or flavored, even colored, is his favorite.
❤ Watching Dalton - He enjoys watching his fiance doing anything, as really he's a handsome man. Who can blame him for watching him work.
Dislikes (At Least 3):
✗ Giving Dalton demon blood
✗ Game shows - He finds them boring and in some cases even degrading.
✗ Watching Dalton gamble - He's always worried about him losing big when he does, despite any assurances he gives Laine.
✗ Alcohol - He refuses to drink it, passing it off as a dislike for the taste when really he's worried about potentially saying things he shouldn't when he's drunk.
Fears (At Least 2):
☬ Dalton discovering what he has done to him
☬ Mammon killing Dalton
Goals (At Least 1):
★ To find a way to get Dalton safely off of demon blood
★ To be freed of Mammon's control
Personality: He didn't really know what his own personality was for most of his life, having always adapted and changed it -or rather, tried to convince himself he had changed- in order to keep his "family" happy with him and survive. With Dalton, he began to discover more and more of what was really "him" more than what he put on for the demons.
Laine is a fastidious individual, and a quick learner. He pays careful attention to all detail of anything he does, striving to ensure he rarely makes a mistake. If given a task, he will do what he can to ensure that he succeeds, if not excels, at the assignment. Laine is persistent and will not give up on what he wants or needs to do, pressing on and finding new routes towards his end goal. He doesn't like failing, and can even have a severe panic attack if the extent of failure is deep (even if it's only in his mind that he failed). This is lingering damage from the punishments he would receive growing up if he failed to meet the standards of the demons testing him. When he gets to this state it can take a lot to calm him down from it. He's been working on this while with Dalton, and has been improving slowly but gradually. He suffers from quite a bit of anxiety, and while he hides it well most days, it all comes out when he's alone and leaves him an exhausted wreck. It's made even worse with the intense and overwhelming guilt he feels over what he is doing to Dalton, deceiving him and tricking him at the instructions of a demon prince.
Laine is otherwise a quiet individual, who is genuinely friendly towards those he feels are good people. He can fake this friendliness if needed. He is also a touch possessive, mainly towards Dalton, when he has something he fears to lose. It's a quiet possessiveness, as he doesn't want to be controlling over people or really even let on what it is he wants to keep. He's lived under the thumb of people with too much control over others, and he's scared to become like them. Laine actually has a bold streak in him that shows rarely, but is there. He has moments of defiance that surprise even himself, even though there may end up being consequences for it. He is deeply caring, and highly attentive to those around him. Always watching and analyzing others, Laine tends to subtly shift his behaviors to try and please them and keep conflict low. This is more of a defensive behavior that came from his upbringing, but is something he no longer does around Dalton. He is the only one who sees the true side (mostly) of Laine.

History: Laine's life began, really and truly, when he was six. He was witness to his parents being slaughtered right in front of him by demons, who then took him with them. Their reason for sparing his life was something he would never learn. He was presented to Mammon, a demon prince of hell, and it was decided he would be raised and groomed to be a weapon. Afterall, the young are often easier to mould to one's plans. Given to a pair of demon caretakers, Laine grew up knowing only unbidden cruelty, violence, and surviving by adapting to please. He was given instruction by a powerful witch in Mammon's employ named Olissa who taught him magic and groomed him to be an excellent witch. His fastidious nature was a boon for his studies, and he picked up on her lessons with ease. Her praise was rare, but was far better than what he received from the demons. From them, he learned various skills to aid him where magic wouldn't. He was frequently tested to ensure he could kill or torture as asked, and that his magic was strong.
When he was 24, he was given his first true solo mission, one that would test everything he had been taught by his psychotic cruel family. He was instructed by Mammon to get close to a man named Dalton Grant, to groom him for Mammon's plans as a backup in case his current target, a man named Tyson Grant, didn't pan out as needed. He tracked Dalton down and observed him for a few weeks, learning his habits, before sabotaging his car. Afterwards he tracked him as he waited for the car to break down. Once it had, he conveniently passed by the stranded man and offered him a ride. Not suspecting a thing, Dalton accepted. Later he found him again in the casino he owned, and proceeded to flirt and tease him for the rest of the evening. He made sure Dalton got drunk before taking him home for the rest of the night. Afterwards he had to work very hard to gain Dalton's trust and to get a date with him. His persistence and refusal to fail finally landed a date, and then another, and another. For the next three years they dated, and Laine began feeding him demon blood once he had earned his trust enough that he could feed him food he made. He feeds the demon blood to him through smoothies and milkshakes he makes for Dalton, disguising the taste through the various things he puts in the mix. But...As the months passed, Laine found himself falling truly in love with Dalton. It was a shock to him, and scared him because he had never known true love. The demons who raised him had only ever expressed false love, the kind he had originally played for Dalton. This left him unsure about if he was ever expressing how he felt properly. But as he spent more and more time with Dalton, Laine began to change as he fell deeper and deeper in love with the man. With the love came enormous crushing guilt as he began to realize just how wrong his deceptive actions were. He is constantly a ball of anxiety over this guilt, though he hides it well. He has a terrible fear of what will happened if Dalton finds out how he came into his life in the first place.
Laine tried to stop giving him the demon blood, but the effects of doing so were so violent that he was forced to keep up his routine. He has since been trying very hard to slowly work Dalton off, but has not found a complete solution for doing so. Deciding he needed to protect Dalton from his demonic family, Laine generated a plan. He first gathered his bravery and asked Dalton to marry him. The fact he said yes absolutely surprised him, but excited the witch immensely. A few months later, he began to put into motion the next stage of running away. He had been studying his magic, and decided that if they moved far enough away from their current location, he'd be able to work on creating some form of cloaking magic to hide them. It was his hope, anyway. But he knew hiding from a demon prince was likely to be above his skill. But, he had to try. The first step was leaving. It took a while for him to convince Dalton to join him on a "vacation to see the world, starting with Europe" for a few weeks, but he managed to finally do it.
Once Dalton made the arrangements with a friend to care for his casino, Laine and him left on their road trip. All the while, Laine prayed they'd be able to run far enough away from Mammon's reach that they could start a family and have a truly happy life together.

Holding a small glass swan to his eyes with a gloved hand, the dragon carefully turned it side to side to examine. Finding no grime or dust, he smiled in satisfaction as he set it back down. A frown briefly flicked across his face as he delicately turned the swan a millimeter, smiling in pleasure once it was back to its former position. He picked up a delicate Ukrainian painted egg next and set to dusting it with the same care he'd shown the swan. His weekly dusting took him a couple hours to complete, but once he was finished he stood back and examined his precious trinkets with vain pride. After fawning over his hoard for a while, Delwyn plucked the cotton gloves off his hands and tucked them in their designated drawer, stepping to the bathroom to examine himself in the mirror. Carefully brushing his hair and checking the trim on his facial hair, the dragon grinned in delighted pleasure. Still such a fine looking specimen.
A chirp from his phone distracted him as he made his way to the kitchen to get a head start on his dinner plans. Frowning as he read the message, Delwyn sighed heavily and turned his path to the front door. His assistant at the funeral home had pleaded with him to come in, despite his day off, to help deal with the relatives of a new arrival.
"Why do some people have to be so damned difficult." He muttered under his breath, perturbed to have his day off cut short. He tucked his glasses into a case in his messenger bag, before throwing on a coat with a flourish. Dapper as ever, the dragon left his house and made his way to work, continuing to mutter under his breath as he did so.
