As common and as easy creating a plotter comes to RPers, new people who are new to roleplay or this kind of roleplay in general may not understand what a plotter is used for or how it works. Some of the most experienced RPers may even draw blanks when it comes to making a plotter for their character(s). So this guide is for all those people!
The point of a plotter is to get other members to post to it and plot with your character! You can keep it short and simple, with a small description but it's always good to add more details in that will help people come up with ideas when reading the plotter. Now for this guide, I will be providing you with a template which you may use. You are free to create something on your own, but for those who don't know even the basics of coding-- This is for you. Below is the code. Feel free to change up the colors and such.
[div align="center"][div style="color:#9c9c9c;padding:0px;border-radius:10px;border:#2c2c2c solid 10px;width:500px;background-color:#404040;text-shadow:#000000 1px 1px 1px;"]

Now let's begin. Firstly you'll want to post your character's plotters all in separate posts on their correct accounts. If you do not have an sub-board within the plotting area for your characters, contact me in order to get one set up. When PMing me, please provide the title of what you would like the board to be called. Example: Hell Hound's Chew Toys/Cherry Pie's Slices.
It's very important to give a nice description of your character that the plotter is for. Describe their personality and things they have been through, explain your character some to the person reading your plotter. It can be as short or as long as you want, but it's ideal not too have it too short where no one can get a good gist of the character; or too long which turns people off from reading your plotter. In the template I provided, you put that information whereis located. Be careful not to edit or erase any of the coding, as it will break the code and the template will ruin when posted.Description of character.
On plotters, a common thing to see is a location where relationships can be posted. This is a great way to keep track of friendships, romances, bromances, hatemances, whatever floats your boat. You can edit it yourself, adding relationships to your plotter when they are created in RP, or you can ask that people post to your plotter about the friendship position, to help you keep track as it could become overwhelming. On the template provided, you will see Lovers, Friends, Enemies, and etc listed. This is where you add a little summary about that character and their status with each type of relationship(if wanted), and then list characters under what you or your character considers them. It is up to you how detailed you want to be about these things, just remember people are suppose to read these so try and make them fun and don't make them too bland!
Now, we've covered what the template offers you but there's many things you can do to make your plotter unique and your own! You could make a graphic for it of course, if you're able. You can add other things to your plotter, like random little facts, personality traits, likes, dislikes, maybe some more links to other things you have of your character like a journal or phone!
Another good idea to add into your plotter is, make sure to explain where you want to take your character. Do you want them to become an amazing hunter? Do you want them to make a deal? Do you want them to get married? What is your personal goals for that character and what kind of plots would you like? Make sure you try to give something to the people reading to bounce off of so they can reply to your plotter with some awesome ideas!
Last but not least, another idea you could do is use your plotter to keep track of current personal plots your beloved character is going through. You could label them snazzy cool titles, or just explain them. Is your character dealing with a demon? Is it a recurring plot for them? Then write about it! Maybe another character could help them out, you never know!
Now, this was my first official guide so hopefully this has helped those who have read and hope that it's made plotters easier for you to understand and now you can get to plotting. Remember to post to other's plotters as well! If you have any further questions regarding plotters or something RP/EotR related please PM me and I would be happy to help.
Good luck plottin'!
