Personality: Li often pretends to be meek and polite to get people to underestimate her. In reality she is headstrong, stubborn and loves showing off, often rubbing people off the wrong way and coming across as a haughty brat. She is unorthodox in her hunting methods, such as carrying yoga mats with pre-drawn demon traps and lighting fireworks indoors to stun yao guai.
Li has trained with the best and as a result is overconfident in her abilities, she sometimes misreads the situation and acts on instinct instead of facts.

History: Li specialises in spirits and demons indigenous to mainland China. Has studied abroad in England for two years. Li became an apprentice at age 11, studying with the renowned hunter and reclusive hermit Teacher Tang.
Li's story begins with her father Wang. He grew up in a small village in northern China, walled in by ancient forests and mountain ranges. The winters were as harsh as they were beautiful. Snow blanketed down for seven months of the year, spit froze before it hit the ground and temperatures plummet to negative 45 degrees celsius during the night. In the mornings they sometimes found the bodies of drunks who had frozen to death outside.
Being the seventh son of a seventh son, Li's father had much spiritual energy and he was often haunted by visitors, they manifested themselves in uneasy feelings and shadowy visions that often resulted in crippling migraines. One winter, when her father was ten, he began to have horrible re-occuring nightmares, or so he believed because he could never quite tell if he was awake or dreaming. They always the same way, just after midnight he would suddenly wake up with a feeling of uncontrollable dread. The room was icy cold, a bitter, biting chill that worked it's way into his very bones.
The coldness would grow, and grow and then...Tap...Crunch... Tap... Crunch... He would see an old woman dressed in black slowly walking past his window. Her father would be paralysed with fear, too scared to even scream. He would lie there mute and terrified, praying for the old woman to leave. His parents often found him in the morning still awake, blank-eyed and unresponsive, unable to talk for the rest of the day. This went on for weeks while his headaches got worse until his parents had no choice but to seek an alternative line of help; an old medicine man who knew a little about hunting. He made a ward that stopped the spirits visiting him. It seemed to solve the problem as her father's nightmares stopped and his headaches lessened.
Twenty years later Wang had his daughter Li. One night, when Li was 11 years old, something strange happened. She woke up suddenly with a feeling of unease. The room was cold and black and her breath was coming out in little white puffs. As Li's eyes slowly adjusted she saw there was a dark figure standing at the foot of her bed, it was an old woman.
"Hello Grandmother." Said Li, as it was customary to greet any old woman. The old woman spoke, and Li answered, although she could not remember what she said. At this point Li knew she was talking to a ghost. She slowly inched her way along the bed, eyes glued to the black figure. The door was just on her right. As her foot touched the icy floorboard she felt a chill run down her spine and the old woman began to walk towards her. Li bolted for the door, just managing to duck under an outstretched hand.
Somehow she knew she could not let it touch her. She burst into the living room and switched on the light, rifling through a set of draws for something, anything. She could hear it's footsteps, patient and slow, her fingers began to grow numb with cold. What could she use? Suddenly her hand closed around a heavy metal comb. The old woman had reached the doorway. For an instant it seemed wary of the light, then it start forward again.
Li hurled the comb at it with all her might. It passed right through the old woman with a flash of silver and she vanished like a candle being blown out. Li turned and ran into the bathroom. She wasn't safe yet, it was still there, she could feel it's rage. She locked the door and crouched in the bathtub trembling. When morning came and her father found her inside, alive but terrified. Saved by the cast-iron bathtub. After hearing about the night's events her father called Teacher Tang. Tang deduced that it was the same spirit from the village.
It had attached itself to her father and followed him as he moved, gaining strength, her father had a protective ward on him so it tried to go after Li. Teacher Tang had never heard of this kind of spirit before, although writing protection seals onto the walls seemed to keep it at bay he did not know how to get rid of it. He declared more research needed to be done and offered to make Li his apprentice. He was impressed by her quick thinking but was adamant she only survived due to dumb luck. Li studied with Teacher Tang for 9 years, becoming an official hunter at 20.

RP Sample: Li arrived at the apartment at precisely half-past ten, she mounted the steps two at a time with a tool bag at her hip and a raincoat tucked under one arm. It was mid-spring in the Si Sui provence and the night was pleasantly clear. The streets were sparsely lit by the glow of surrounding apartments and the air was warm and muggy. A car sped past below her and Li caught a whiff of it's oily exhaust fumes. She pressed the intercom and received a burst of static.
“Bbtzzz. Hello?”
“Hi, I’m the electrician. I’m here for the ten thirty appointment.”
“Bbtzzz. Come in.”
The metal door unlocked with a beep. The inside was plain whitewashed concrete, a single naked bulb hung from the ceiling. Li walked along the hall, stopping in front of a door marked "Landlord." It opened on the second knock, revealing a stout sour-faced woman with a handkerchief knotted around her head.
She gave Li a once-over and squawked; “You’re the electrician, are you? No wonder your voice was so high pitched, I thought they’d sent me a eunuch.”
“No ma’am.”
“That’s a lot of jewellery for someone who's not a call-girl.” remarked the landlord snidely, eyeing her silver rings.
'That's a lot of lipstick for a dog.' Thought Li. “Ma’am, I heard you’ve been experiencing some power outages? Flickering lights, sudden drops in temperature, things like that?"
“Yes. Right pain in the arse it is, got tenants complaining left and right.”
“Tenants on which floor, ma’am?”
“Oh, I dunno, all those on the first floor.”
“Thank you Ma’am."
“Good god do these freeloaders like to complain...Pah! Pig-livered babies, a little dark never hurt no'un. You should see them pissing their pants, crying about things they think they saw!"
“What kind of things?” Li asked a little too excitedly and the landlord gave her a shrewd look.
“Things that go bump in the night, missy. Now what exactly do you plan to do?”
“Well ma’am, if the lights are flickering there’s either something wrong with the connection, or the bulbs. I’ll check both.”
“Pah! I could have done that!”
“I’m a professional ma’am. What kind of heating do you use?”
“Gas.”
“I can take a look at that too Ma’am. Where is it?”
“The basement. Now I won’t have you ’sturbing the tenants with banging and hammering. Not a peep, you hear? The only reason I hired a night electrician is because you’re cheaper than day ones.”
“I’ll be quiet as a ghost, ma’am.” Li promised.
