Personality: Adina is a sweet, soft-spoken girl who, for the most part, lived a very short and simple, sheltered life. She is gentle, warm and polite, and might come across as timid and subservient, particularly to males because that is the way she was raised. Adina is creative and crafty, though her methods and style are quite primitive due to the time period she lived in before. She doesn't at all mind physical labor and is always willing to lend a helping hand if she can.

History:
Adina lived the very simple life of a farmer's daughter in the British Isles back in the late 700s. Their small, thatch-roofed house was the shelter of their entire family of ten, and it was crowded, but still she felt blessed just to have her family so close. The females did their part in helping to run the homestead while the males tended to the fields and crops and animals, from sun up to sun down. What little spare time Adina had, she tried to learn new crafts such as leatherworking and pottery, and she loved to take late evening walks to watch the sunset by the water.
It was during one of these walks that she met a man named Isaiah. He was a stranger but somehow she felt drawn to him, and comfortable in his presence. Isaiah had the most incredible stories to share with her, and she found him fascinating. She started sneaking away from home more often whenever she could just to spend more time with him, and the two of them fell in love. Over time, he even taught her to read.
Sneaking away became increasingly more difficult when some villagers witnessed a massive flying creature, a dragon, near the village, and Adina's parents became even more panicked and over-protective. Isaiah confessed to her that the dragon was him, and it terrified her at first, but he assured her that he would never hurt her and she took him at his word.
Early June of 793 is when the Vikings came... plundering the villages and slaughtering innocent families. On this one rare occasion, Adina had accidentally fallen asleep near Isaiah and stayed out all night. When she did return home she found her entire family had been butchered, as were many others in the village as the Vikings rampaged through home after home and family after family. Adina barely managed to escape the fray and return to Isaiah, who instructed her to hide in the church, and telling her that he would come later to get her and they would run away together.
Unfortunately, this plan would never come to fruition, as the church was eventually attacked before she could be rescued. The last thing Adina remembers are the screams all around her... the red in her vision as blood splattered in her eyes as people were being slaughtered like animals, and then the pain... the agonizing pain as she was sliced through with a battle ax before everything went black.

Tom hadn't been to his father's grave since the funeral, despite the fact that the family mausoleum was on the grounds of Wayne Manor. He had a hard time dealing with Bruce's death, but didn't want to admit so to anyone, including himself. In fact, for the last few months, he had sort of been in that state of mind that maybe if he ignored the problem, it would go away. Maybe if he didn't acknowledge the fact that his dad was really gone, it wouldn't be true.
But of course, despite his eagerness to forget, he couldn't. He knew that the world was going to keep turning despite the fact that Batman was no longer there to protect it. Gotham was still going on without him. Jax and Freddy were trying to do their part to help keep the streets safe, and what was he doing? Absolutely nothing. At least nothing that anyone could see. He knew that he had a responsibility here. He knew that he had to carry on his father's legacy... but he felt so lost.
The door of the mausoleum stood ajar to allow a bit of the afternoon sunlight to permeate the interior. Tom had taken off his sunglasses and hooked them onto the front of his shirt, and now he stood there staring at the plaque on the wall that indicated where Bruce was buried. He stared at it for a long couple of minutes before letting out a heavy sigh, "Hey... Dad..."
His eyes dropped to the floor as he ran his hand through his hair, trying to figure out what he even wanted to say. "So I guess if what people think is true... you've probably been looking down on me. And you're probably pissed as hell...
"But it's not my fault, Dad. I wasn't prepared for this. You were supposed to stick around for us. You were supposed to be here to help me through this shit. I know that I'm supposed to carry on the mantle, but I can't, Dad. I'm not you. I'm not strong enough..."
He looked back up at his father's name on the plaque and swallowed, a couple of tears sliding slowly down his face, his shoulders dropping a little and his voice softening. "You weren't supposed to leave me like this..."
