Abilities
In his dealings with antique books, he has come across rare texts depicting ancient knowledge, that he has used to garner skill in only a few select witch powers.
Super Strength: He is strong enough to carry a fully grown man high into the air to drop to their deaths.
Super Speed: Able to reach immensely fast velocities once he has taken flight. He can run faster than the average human, but reaches his true potential on the wing.
Claws/Talons: He has nasty sharp, curved claws and talons in his true form, and can manifest them individually in human form as needed.
Wing Manifestation: Able to fly in his true form.
Shapeshifting: Can shift his appearance to attain a human look, to hide among humans.
Longevity (witch): Harpies from his homeland don't live near as long as he has. His dabbling in witchcraft has given him a means to increase his lifespan.
Scrying (witch): Uses mirrors or reflective surfaces to find people, either because he knows exactly what they look like or has something of theirs. Uses this to keep an eye on potential threats, to keep track of humans he either wishes to hunt down at some point, or if he's suspicious of possible hunters.
Astral Projection (witch): Used to project the astral body out of the physical, to travel from one place to another. He is still recently learning how to do this and has yet to succeed beyond a few minutes.
Weaknesses
Silver: He cannot touch pure silver, and if wounded properly by it he will die. If surrounded by enough silver without touching it, he will be greatly weakened and become almost physically ill.

Likes (At Least 3):
❤Flying. He feels beyond free when in flight, despite how it's a tad more dangerous now with all them confounded planes in the sky these days.
❤ The ocean, especially the home waters of the Norwegian Sea where he originally hails from. The sound of the waves and the smell of brine calms him. When he can't find a chance to fly there, he'll find the closest lake to substitute.
❤ Singing. Eindriđi loves to sing, and can usually be found either softly murmuring a song or humming if he is not directly speaking with someone or on a hunt.
❤ Fish. He goes crazy for fish and loves to go to chinese supermarkets to find new odd varieties to try.
❤ Playing games with humans. Or outright tricking them. For example, he loves to throw his voice around when hiding in forests or other areas, and he gets a serious kick out of causing them strife when they can't pinpoint the source of the beautiful voice.
Dislikes (At Least 3):
✗ Anyone who harms children, regardless of their race. This strong hatred was born from the slaughter of his own children. Out of all the humans he hunts, he refuses to ever harm a child.
✗ Werewolves. He sees them as uncouth feral dogs. Really he just dislikes canines of all forms in general.
✗ Cats and cat-like monsters. Cause you know, cats hunting birds. Sphinxes are okay, at least the ones who are part bird.
✗ Guns. He hates how easy they make killing now for hunters, and just for anyone really. The sound of them firing also hurts his ears, so he does his best to not be around when he sees people toting guns in the open. If he can't leave he becomes incredibly anxious and stressed.
Fears (At Least 2):
☬ He is afraid of death, and dying, at the hands of either a hunter or another creature. He has witnessed his family and others be killed in so many gruesome ways, that he is terrified of going out on any term that is not his own.
☬ He is terrified of being caged, and does not think he would survive should he become trapped once more.
Goals (At Least 1):
★ To quench his endless thirst for knowledge, he intends to stay alive as long as it takes to satisfy his curiosity of this world, and even what he discovers of space as more and more is learned by humans.
Personality: Eindriđi has always been a very curious bird. Ever since he was a small chick listening to his father's stories of the world outside their nest, he has thirsted to know everything he could ever read or witness. His curiosity has landed him in trouble at times, but age has refined (without diminishing) this streak, adding more caution to his exploration. With the advance in information distribution, he has been spending more and more time absorbing everything he could find, such as languages, space exploration, the sea, and bio-mechanics.
When he was young, he was a brave and at times brash harpy, with little regard for rules. He matured once he had a mate and chicks of his own, having to step into the role of being a father. Though, really, he still acted like a goof because he found it hard to be serious, especially when his own mate was serious enough for two.
This harpy has strong paternal instincts, and enjoys interacting with children. He is protective of children, and feels unbridled fury towards those who abuse them. With the increase of hunters, he has had to learn how to reign in this rage, lest he expose himself in this age of technology. His kind tend to act as over eager vigilantes, punishing those they feel are evil-doers. He targets those who would harm the youth (of any species); murderers, abusers, pedophiles. He was over zealous as a young harpy in this task, but age has tempered him and taught him to be more careful, to research and observe his targets to be absolutely certain before making a move.
Eindriđi enjoys telling stories, as well as singing. When his chicks were alive, dusk was his favorite time of day because he would regale them with a new tale of lore each night as they settled down to sleep. He has no one to tell stories to these days, so instead he simply compiles new ones to his growing library every time he finds a new story. With regards to his singing, he sings whenever he can. Though, he sometimes has to be careful of what language he's singing in if he's nearby other people, as he's paranoid at times that hunters or other enemies of his kind would be able to recognize what he is just by the language he sings in. This is really just an unfounded fear.
The death of his mate and chicks broke him, and even today a deep well of sorrow still taints his aura and shows in the set of his shoulders, and the shadow in his gaze.

History: Born on an island in Norway that would come to be known as Senja, Eindriđi had a fairly happy upbringing despite being a bit of an outcast. He was rather different from the rest of the harpies, preferring to learn stories and observe the life around him, rather than hunt with the others in bloodthirsty exhilaration. He spent his days exploring the fjords and coasts of his home, and would have been quite content to live out his life alone if he hadn't met a beautiful harpy named Frida when he was 23. He was completely awestruck by her beauty, and almost bowled over by her incredibly strong and serious personality. There couldn't be two harpies more different in the flock, yet somehow his courting efforts won over and they ended up a mated pair. Both were outcast by their differences from the flock, so they ended up in voluntary exile as they made their nest further down the coast. Soon, Eindriđi found himself blessed with children. He had felt his heart would burst with pride and love. However, because they lived so far from the protection of a flock, they knew they couldn't hunt humans for prey like they would normally have. Therefore, they tried to keep as low a profile as they could, hunting deer and other native animals. If humans did wander too close, they would hunt them but dispose of the bodies away from the nest site.
As their chicks grew and reached the stage of life where they could begin trying out their wings, Eindriđi felt life was perfect. However, it all changed one day. He had gone to hunt while Frida guarded their nest, but when he returned, he found that a band of humans had overpowered Frida and slaughtered her, as well as their chicks. All they had wanted was the beautiful feathers of the harpies. The sight of their mutilated and skinned bodies utterly broke
Eindriđi, and after retrieving the broken necklace that had been a gift to Frida, he spent the better part of a month drifting in a numbed flight along the coast. As he flew, a slow fury began to burn in his belly, and he decided it was time to hunt down those responsible for this agony in his heart. It took him a year to hunt down the entire band, and each one died a gruesome drop from a great height. Eindriđi wanted them to experience immense terror as he carried them as high as he could before letting go. The leader he dropped from heights that would break him, but not kill him, so that he could be dropped several times in a row.
Once he had extracted his revenge, the harpy made his way towards Greece. He spent the better part of 20 years there, drifting on the edges of different harpy flocks and learning the local language. He also practiced attaining a human disguise, a skill his flock had rarely utilized as they had lived on steep cliffs rarely traversed by humans. Eventually he moved on to Rome, where he was captured by humans after less than a year. Held captive in an iron cage, the bars banded with silver to weaken him, he was used as a songbird for a nobleman's entertainment. The psychological abuse and physical torture done to him broke him even further than his grief had, and he was too weak to try and escape. There he wilted, shamed and tormented, for 5 years, before a young servant boy freed him. Wary at first, Eindriđi soon embraced his freedom and surged out. He found his strength of spirit again then, and swiftly made his way to the nobleman's chamber in human disguise. Once there, he sang a low harpy lullaby to lull the man to deeper sleep, before slashing his throat. He still doesn't know what made the boy free him, but he remained forever grateful.
Fleeing Rome, he visited various other lands before eventually crossing the ocean and ending up in America. It was there he settled down and began to stay more and more in human disguise, and where he first started to collect books of all forms. He got the idea to start studying various witchcraft spells after a chance encounter with a young student witch he inadvertently saved when she was being attacked by a hunter. Realizing there was potential to help him with his thirst for knowledge of all forms, he started to actively hunt down antique books that could help him in this new quest. He felt frustration at first with how many spells didn't work for him, but he soon allowed the anger to pass as he understood that perhaps some things only came to humans. Since then, he has opened an antique book store he called "The Sphinx's Riddle", dealing in old and rare books from around the world. Eindriđi caters to all who find themselves searching for that perfect text. He has moved the shop around to various cities over the years, to throw off suspicion about his long life from the locals. The most recent location was in Carmel-By-The-sea.
Eindriđi can speak a number of dialects, including many ancient ones and a dead language only harpies know. He always wears Frida's necklace; a roughly rounded green Zoisite gem on a black cord around his neck, with four short feathers tied to it; one black, two storm-grey, and one white. These are the feathers of his dead family that he managed to salvage, and that he has carefully maintained over the centuries. He himself has feathers and wings similar to those of gannets, built for the swift speed and powerful diving of the seabirds.

Claw tapping the worn table, Eindriđi's blue gaze swept over the faded spidery writing of an ancient philosopher. Carefully turning the delicate yellowed page of the old book, the harpy shuffled his wings and again settled back into his zone. Fascinated by the long past human's view on various herbs and possible medical uses, Eindriđi almost didn't hear the soft chime of the store front door opening. His head only snapped over to the curtain that separated the store from the privacy of his back room when the visitor called out for his attention.
"Nother delivery for you, sir!" piped up a cheerful young male.
Hopping to the floor, Eindriđi quickly focused and shifted to a human appearance. As he stood straight, his blue eyes darkened to almost black, and he smoothed his now black hair back. A smile lit his face as he brushed the curtain aside and stepped into his customary place behind the old wooden counter. The courier thumped a heavy box on the desk, wiping his brow.
"That's a really heavy one. What kind of books did you get in today?" he asked, as he pulled out his electronic scanner and began to record the package as delivered.
"Colin, I have so many books I'm always waiting for, that it's a surprise every time." Eindriđi laughed, signing the delivery notice. Too excited about his books, he didn't notice that Colin had blushed at the soft, pleasant lilting sound that was the harpy's laugh. "Do you care to see?"
"Wh..what?" Colin blinked, pulling out from the soft daze he had found himself in. "Oh! Uh, no. I'd love to, but." The young man shrugged and gestured to the parked van outside. "I have so many deliveries to make."
"Ah. Next time then." Eindriđi chuckled softly, smiling. "Thank you, again."
"No problem sir! I'll probably be back by the end of the week!" Colin gave him a small salute, before turning and hurrying out. Hands resting on the box, the harpy watched him leave. He enjoyed Colin's presence. He was such a bright and eager young man. And one of few these days who seemed to still appreciate the paper form of books. Returning his gaze to his box, Eindriđi carefully shifted just one finger, the nail sprouting into its lethal claw. Using it to slice open the tape, he shifted it back after its task was complete. The smell of musty old paper hit him the moment the cardboard flaps opened. Ahh, these ones were so very old. Carefully pulling on a pair of cotton gloves, the harpy pulled out the carefully packaged pair of tomes. He brought them to the back to finish their unpacking, a soft happy trill fluttering out of his throat in excitement. He couldn't wait to read these rare finds.
