Blood Magic Specialization- Blood magic is a school of witchcraft where the caster must sacrifice either their own blood or the blood of a living participant (willing or not) in order to cast spells, hexes or curses. Often the caster's spells require copious amounts of blood depending on how powerful the spell is, resulting in the sacrifice's death by exanguination. The most powerful of spells require the use of Human, Demon or Angel blood, which more often than not, puts Blood Witches on a Hunter's radar. Blood Magic is considered dangerous or foolish, even amongst other witches, due to the fact that it strictly requires the use of blood as the main ingredient for most of the spells and little else; the potency of the spell determined by the amount of blood used. Additionally, the use of Blood Magic becomes addictive to the caster, especially when absorbing blood from a sacrifice to fuel a spell. 

The more the caster uses Blood Magic, the more they feel they need to use it until the nature of it kills them. On average, a witch's life expectancy using Blood Magic is about 80-100 years because over time the need to use Blood Magic increases until a witch flies into a "blood frenzy", where he or she will drain the blood from any nearby victim to cast spells, even using every last drop of their own blood to do so, ultimately killing themselves. For this reason, Blood Witches aren't welcome into Covens as they're seen as a liability and most witch families estrange themselves from any member who uses Blood Magic as they can't be trusted not to sacrifice their loved ones to feel the potency of their magic flow through their veins. 

*Healing- Iris can use Blood Magic to heal wounds, cure diseases and dispel curses/hexes. However, she must sacrifice an amount of blood equal to the nature of the ailment she wishes to heal. 
*Blood Weapons- Iris can use the various metals/minerals in a person's blood to forge temporary weapons, usually a knife or a sword, if she doesn't have one on hand. This requires almost all of the blood of a sacrifice for a weapon that lacks the durability of a normal blade, so she seldom uses this spell.

On the surface, Iris comes off as a stubborn, brusque and independent person to a fault, but only maintains this to keep people at arm's length as a means of protecting them. Beneath this, she's a compassionate, easy-going and creative individual who only wants to look out for the people she cares about, even if it meant sacrificing her own life.
