The Blade of Joan of Arc

The story of Joan of Arc's sword goes back to the days when the famous story took place. Joan of Arc was a prophet, given whispers and directions straight from God to shape history in a certain direction. Discovered the Angel Tablet, and using it she forged a weapon through the instructions on the Tablet that granted the user great power, but it would lead to great misfortune to the wielders, and would forever bind them to that same blade. Joan's sword was bestowed with the power that could be attained to kill not only man, but potentially even Archangels, but to reach its true potential, it has to be used to slay beings of great power; the five crosses along its blade representing a different form of being. The first one is filled by someone completing the Blood Rite, which allows it to be wielded by someone, this cross being for Humanity. The other four represent other forms of being; Creatures, Demons, Angels and Spirits.

The Blood Rite involves the user having to give large amounts of their own blood by cutting both of their hands. Once the blade is covered, they sit cross legged and hold it in both hands for an extended period of time. The Wielder will not die during this ritual, and as time passes the pain will grow and the blade will begin to burn in their hands, and they have to push through it. When this happens their veins in their arms will turn black and move up to their chest. Once this is finished, the connection will be established and, usually, the souls within the blade will greet the new wielder.

The blade itself has a strange intelligence and presence to it, it chooses beings of great power and when near them, will begin to burn in the hand of the user to alert them that the blade has marked that being to be slayed by it in order to enable its next gem to be filled. Once those beings are slain, the blood will run along the blade and then be sucked into one of the five crosses and fill it in a manner similar to a gem, while retaining its liquid appearance. For these beings it has marked, even if the sword is unable to kill their kind of essence in any other case, Marked individuals are a special case an the sword has the capability to slay them - but only them - until the cross has been filled. Although, as an important note, on the Creature Cross - referred to as the wielders as "Eve's Cross" - it will only ever pertain to creatures who fall under Eve's domain. Creatures of magical or other origins are not effected by it, and will not be marked by it.

A more sinister side of the blade is that whoever so completes the Blood Rite binds their souls to the blade for eternity. As such, all of the wielders who have ever held the blade and used it to its full capability still reside in the blade, and speak to the current wielder and one another in almost spirit-like visions. Each filled cross grants a number of unique abilities as well that are only unlocked aside from killing the beings in particular, usually revolving around shielding the user. The Demon cross makes it where demons cannot possess the Wielder and does not permit the Wielder to make Crossroads deals for any reason, the Creature cross makes the Wielder unable to be turned into a creature, the Spirit cross makes them unable to be possessed by a spirit, and the Angel cross makes them unable to be possessed by an Angel even if giving their consent and allows them to hear the Angel Radio through the blade itself.

The blade has a few passive abilities - any beings other than the one it is bound to by the blood ritual who try to touch the blade will experience unimaginable pain until they are no longer touching it and it will always return to the wielder if ever removed from their grasp, seemingly by impossible leaps of fate. The blade is also, seemingly, entirely indestructible. If the Wielder is possessed by something the blade has not yet been able to shield the Wielder from, it will instantly begin to harm the being holding it until released and will not return to the Wielder until they are no longer under the influence of another creature - this includes forms of mind control. Abilities pertaining to possession can be bypassed by particularly powerful beings, although the blade will continue to refuse to function properly for them, often causing mishaps, damage, and just in general being more of a pain than it is worth.

On the more sinister side of the blade, the wielders of it are cursed. Not only are they bound to live within the blade for eternity when they die, they are cursed to die unfortunate deaths. The filled crosses reset between users, which is why it has never been filled before. When the wielders die, the crosses loose the blood and drip off the blade in a liquid state again, resetting it to an inert state.
