Personality: Caius usually presents as a somewhat shy individual, at first. He tends to have a difficult time trusting the intentions of others, after what he's been through, and the length of time it takes for him to warm up to an individual depends on how they treat him. Once he has grown comfortable enough around someone to start expressing himself more truly, he shows himself to be an intelligent man who holds a deep passion for his hobbies and anything that interests him, a passion he gets immediately embarrassed about when showing because he's grown up having to hide much of his true self. Caius doesn't handle intentional emotional abuse well, the kind that is meant to belittle and demean you, and experiencing such abuse can cause him to shut down and pull away.
Caius is growing more confident in going for what he wants, even if he comes across as being flustered or abashed after. He's willing to try new things, as he feels like he can't really know what he truly likes unless he does things he's never done before, even if they are a touch scary and he does require outside coaxing to do it. Though, there are some things he adamantly refuses to approach. Because of his experience at the camp, he does still have moments of panic attacks if something triggers a bad memory, as he still carries PTSD from that time period of his life. When this happens, he can go through a period of being withdrawn from those around him as he works through the attack. Caius feels ashamed at having this, blaming himself even though he knows he shouldn't.

History: Caius grew up in a fairly strict household, ruled by his father. It wasn't...so bad, for most of his life. He was a smart kid and naturally got good grades. His father, having gotten injured back in the day, was unable to pursue his own dreams of being a football star, so he had drilled into Caius at a young age the importance of getting a football scholarship. If he couldn't be a professional football player himself, William would live vicariously through his son. As he grew older, Caius proved to have the athletic ability to play the sport. He made it onto his highschool team with ease, and was on fast tracks to scholarships and a career with it, when everything came tumbling down and his world fell apart.
One of his fellow team members was his best friend since junior high, and was Caius' first crush. He had been confused when they were younger, but as he grew older he began to understand that he was attracted to the handsome man. He kept it on the down low, until midway through grade 12 when he finally gained the confidence to confess to him. However, his friend didn't take it so well. In fact, he proved to be extremely homophobic, and in his fear and disgust with Caius he ended up outing him to the whole school. Things got bad, and he began to suffer extreme bullying. It was so bad from the other members on the football team, led by his former friend, that Caius had to drop from the team. Doing so unfortunately got word to his family what was happening, and this made his father extremely angry towards him. He felt like Caius had betrayed him, ruining his dreams. His strict ruling over his son began to grow more abusive in his anger towards having a gay son, which made feelings of bitter resentment grow in Caius. He began to hate his family, especially his father.
Right after he graduated from school, Caius found himself being shipped off to the Dominican Republic. His father sent him to a conversion camp to try and make him go straight. The particular camp he was sent to was ruled by a power hungry and cruel woman. Unbeknownst to everyone both in the camp and who worked for her, she had psychic abilities that she had been using to control and manipulate with. She most used it in 'therapy' with the kids, twisting their fears and insecurities to make them 'want' to change for 'the better'. Caius accidentally witnessed her using these powers to punish a few kids, and was mortified by the realization that all that stuff in books and movies was actually real. That was the moment he decided he needed to get out of there, one way or another. After a several futile escape attempts and multiple punishments, Caius found himself so miserable from everything he was being put through in the camp that he attempted suicide by slashing his wrists. (Un)fortunately, he was found in time and saved. He came to the conclusion that the only way out was to be 'cured' of his gayness, so he pretended that it had worked and lo, he was cured! Caius kept the act up long enough to get home, but the longer he kept at it, the more he began to try and delude even himself that this was who he was. He was too scared of being sent back to conversion therapy. Whether or not the psychic woman believed it to be true, she said nothing, perhaps because of the delusion he had begun to build in himself. It was three years before he was able to leave.
Once he was back in America, Caius got a job and moved away from home, distancing himself from his family (specifically his father). He occasionally talks to his mother, but it's rare and leaves him with a bitter taste in his mouth afterwards. Over the next few years Caius made several attempts to date women, but he just could never find himself being happy with them. Once, he had even proposed to a girl, but ended up calling off the wedding. While she was alright with it, having figured out where his interests really lay, her family didn't take the news well and essentially exiled him. However, Jasmine remained a friend and continues to check in on him and try to encourage him to open up.
After the marriage fiasco, and at Jasmine's encouragement, Caius decided he needed to stop running and hiding. Slowly, he has begun to work through his issues. He regularly sees a therapist, and has begun to find who he was again. He's discovered he enjoys photography, and has begun thinking about maybe having a career with it one day. He's also beginning to carefully venture out on his interest in men, and has been working up his courage to date them. His secret side hobby has been researching the psychic end of the supernatural, trying to better understand what he had witnessed at the camp, and what had slowly begun manifesting in himself since then. He is wary of his powers, and admittedly a little scared of them as he doesn't want to accidentally ever hurt anyone. But at the same time he finds them so absolutely cool. Though, Caius will never openly admit to anyone that he has such abilities.

Crouching low, Roman brushed his fingers through the leaf litter. He had spied a fox here weeks ago, and after burying it he had waited patiently for nature to take her course. Now, he dug for his reward. Brushing the dirt aside, he unearthed the cleaned skull of the dead fox. Pulling it out and brushing it off, the polish teen's lips drew back in a pleased smile. Yes, it was perfect.
"Maybe in the center...next to the three crows." he murmured, standing and pulling his bag around. Tucking the skull in securely, Roman shaded his dark eyes as he scanned the skies. The deepening shades of pink and purple hinted towards the fall of evening, and the young witch decided perhaps it was best to head home. Pulling his hood up around his head, he cupped his hands to his mouth and gave a low caw.
The sound echoed around the woods, and silence fell for a moment before a returning crawk shattered the air. Roman giggled, and gave an even louder call. The air was broken by a large flock of crows that suddenly winged into the air, black shadows sharply outlined against the dusk. Their cries filled the air as they settled in the branches around Roman. Grinning, the witch boy twirled happily, calling back to them. As he cooed, he reached into his bag and pulled out handfuls of birdseed, scattering it about. The crows eagerly flapped about in fervor as they collected the seeds. Roman watched, giddy. An old female landed on his shoulder, and allowed him to stroke her throat.
"Hey Rose. Here's some just for you." he whispered, holding up some seeds. The old crow gently took them from his hand, happily shuffling her feet as she ate. Once the seeds were gone, Roman cawed a goodbye, and carefully made his way out from the flock. Rose rode his shoulder until he reached the edge of the woods, where she took to wing. He waved goodbye to her, before returning to the town .
