Likes (At Least 3):
❤ Alice in Wonderland (specifically the White Rabbit) - anything with a Wonderland theme he just has to have or do. But the white rabbit is his absolute favorite and he may have one too many things with that theme.
❤ White angora rabbits - He loves rabbits, and for the past few years has been raising and breeding angora rabbits, selling their wool to the local spinners for some extra income and showcasing them in breeding shows. His rabbits are some of his best friends, and they help him whenever he needs emotional support.
❤ Baking and making pastries - He especially loves making complicated and time consuming composed desserts, such as those like pastry chef Amaury Guichon makes.
❤ Supernatural ARGs and Analog Horror, like the Backrooms, Local 58, The Monument Mythos, This Room Does Not Exist, POSTcontent, and more. He's always thought it would be fun to create one himself. He also enjoys youtubers like NightMind and Nexpo that go in depth analyzing this kind of content, as he enjoys when they reveal things he had missed.
❤ Going down "rabbit holes" of information on youtube or the internet in general. It's just so much fun spending a lazy day enjoying a drink of choice while learning about random things while following random links.
❤ Speculative biology/evolution biology. He loves how fantastically creative people are, and is endlessly fascinated by the worlds and creatures that come out of speculative biology.
Dislikes (At Least 3):
✗ Old warehouses, especially abandoned ones - They remind him of where he lost his sister when he was a child.
✗ People thinking he can't do things because he's got a disability.
✗ His prosthetics being messed with. He needs them to get around and doesn't like others touching them without his permission as he worries they might somehow mess them up.
✗ Being compared to the March Hare, instead of the White Rabbit. When he was younger kids would always tease him that way due to his last name, but now as an adult, a part of him fears that he may indeed share more in common with the mad hare than the punctual rabbit. He loathes his childhood nickname "march hare".
Fears (At Least 2):
☬ Losing his independence again. He fought hard to get to where he is now, and he's terrified of the day he loses everything he's gained.
☬ Dead bodies. Specifically, unmoving ones. Zombies he's alright with. It's when the dead are lying there, broken and still, that Arledge gets scared. It brings back memories of the time he had to spend lying near his sister's body, and makes him feel sick, and vile, and forced to look away. When it combines with his prosopagnosia, it's made so much worse because it renders him unable to tell if anyone he loves is amongst the bodies, as he cannot identify those whose voices have been silenced. And really that's what it comes down to. A fear of not knowing if he is looking at a stranger or a friend.
Goals (At Least 1):
★ To just live his life the best he can, and maybe someday find someone to spend it with.
★ To go on his own Wonderland adventure. Though, he's not too sure that Zeppelin City counts...
Personality:Arledge is a cheerful fellow, seeming to rarely be down as he goes through life. He's a hard worker and isn't likely to be found slacking without good reason. When he sets his mind on a goal, he damn well gets it done one way or another. If given a task, Arledge will not allow himself to be distracted from finishing it. Sure, he may be chatting with you and all, but he's skilled at keeping most of his focus on his task while doing so. When he doesn't have a job on the go, Arledge will often be lost in his own thoughts. Between this and his silence while working when not engaged in conversation, Arledge has often been labelled as being a daydreamer. Which he is, but can you blame him? Some days his own head is so much more interesting than the world around him.
Arledge has obsessive tendencies, seen most with his White Rabbit and Alice in Wonderland obsession. To this day he still longs to tumble down a rabbit hole and find himself in a fantastical mad world. This has dissuaded many from wanting to befriend him, which he's okay with. Sometimes people have described him as being a touch mad, not always directly to his face. And the longer you know him, there may perhaps be some truth to this rumor...
Due to his prosopagnosia, Arledge gets anxious in settings that expect him to interact with others and be actively contributing to conversations, especially if there's more than 2 or 3 people. He's adapted to not seeing faces by learning to listen intently to voices, and clothes, and mannerisms in order to identify individuals. So when there's many people, he starts to get overwhelmed by who is who while also trying to talk. Arledge has a much easier time being a fly on the wall, listening to the conversation without being part of it. Which has in a way helped with his job, which involves a lot of listening.

History:
Born to parents who were moderately wealthy, Arledge and his older sister never wanted for anything. But one day on their way home from school when Arledge was 6, both he and his sister found a white van was following them. Arledge didn't quite understand what it meant, but his sister insisted they take a new route home. She said it was going to be a small adventure, like they were going to Wonderland. Arledge liked this idea, and they took a very winding route through a park and some side alleys. But when they thought it was safe, they found the white van waiting. Before they could process what had happened, the kids were grabbed and drugged.
They spent nearly two months in the care of their kidnappers, kept chained by their ankles to beds set up in an abandoned warehouse. Arledge doesn't remember much of it, given that they were kept drugged enough to not be any trouble. What he does remember is the warehouse walls, his sister's soft brave voice regaling him with stories of Alice in Wonderland to help distract him, and then....her silence and her pale blank face, staring at him. One of the kidnappers had been drunk when administering their drugs one day, and overdosed Selena. She had died, leaving Arledge with nothing but silence and a haunting last memory of her without his young mind understanding why she went quiet. The kidnappers didn't remove her body for days, and Arledge could hear a heated debate between them as they tried to decide what to do with her. His parents were left in the dark on her fate, still believing they were going to get both children back when they were able to pay the ransom.
Days passed as Arledge drifted in and out of dreams, then he found himself in the back of a car as the kidnappers were driving him to a new location. He couldn't really understand what was going on, but suddenly there was a loud screech, and Arledge went flying before feeling incredible pain and then blackness. The cops had managed to find where the kids had been held, and the kidnappers were forced to flee with the remaining one. But in their haste during the subsequent chase, they made a mistake and caused a collision. Arledge was badly wounded, and the damage his legs received when he got caught in the crushed frame of the car resulted in a bilateral above the knee amputation.
As he recovered, the police discovered that there had been one more kidnapper who hadn't been with the two in the car, and who had escaped. They tried to get Arledge to describe the individuals he had seen when he was able to talk again, but unfortunately he could give them nothing. Arledge suffers from prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness. He could see the captors, but couldn't register anything about their looks to give to police. Not that a child in his situation could help much anyway. For months he kept asking where Selena was, wanting the comfort of her stories as he recovered from his debilitating injuries. But gradually...the questions slowed, and then stopped. As an adult many wonder at his seeming lack of sadness over losing his sister, but the truth is he was just so young at the time that over the years the memories have faded to only a few important things that just feel like dreams.
It was a hard adjustment for the family when he was out of the hospital, having to accommodate his new life without legs on top of dealing with the loss of Selena. And there was an underlying fear in his parents actions, a fear of losing him again. They hired a caretaker who would be with Arledge most of his waking hours, a lady named Nancy Moore, and it was her job to help him adjust to his new disability and in general play the part of nanny, while also having the secret role of being Arledge's bodyguard. Arledge liked her, and her shock of red hair made it easy for him to track where she was in a crowd. The two grew quite close, and it was Nancy who introduced Arledge to having pet rabbits and how to properly care for them, as she would frequently bring her own rabbit, a lop eared named Charlie, over for him to play with. While Arledge's parents didn't want to encourage his daydreams and obsession with Wonderland, Nancy could see how much it was helping him to stay positive and happy, so she secretly encouraged it, making a game for Arledge where his journey to recovery was like his own journey through Wonderland. He adored it, and even to this day when he's struggling with something he'll play the game of Wonderland and try to see how he can relabel things to make it easier to handle.
As time went on, Arledge grew up and made his way through school. He got his first set of prosthetics when he was 8, and was so excited that he never wanted to go back to a wheelchair again. It was exhausting learning to walk again, and wearing prosthetics for long periods of time hurt. But Arledge was determined to get used to them and was willing to endure the pain. And it worked. Gradually the wheelchair was needed less and less, and eventually was tucked out of sight, kept in case of an emergency. He was so focused on his studies and his training that Arledge ended up being an outcast in school, as he didn't make friends easily at the time. But that was fine. He had Nancy, and he could make any number of imaginary friends. Nancy and his parents worried about him, but there wasn't much they could do if Arledge didn't want to socialize.
Once he was done school, Arledge went to college to start working his way to being a court stenographer. He had discovered the job through watching various courtroom videos, and once he had found out what it was about, he realized how perfect it was for him. He graduated with relative ease, as he was good at doing his work he was given. And when he was done, he received his own car as a graduation gift from his parents. It was one special made for him, allowing him to drive it using only his hands and not his feet through special hand controls. He was thrilled with the new freedom it gave him. His freedom continued to grow once he had found his first job, and saved enough of his own money to move out into a small apartment. It was the first time he had been alone in a long time, as Nancy's nanny services had finished once he was done high school. He still kept in touch with her, and once he was settled he eagerly got her help in getting his first pet rabbit. He went with an angora rabbit (white, of course), and named it Alice.
Arledge's life ended up heading in a pretty good direction after that. He started a small side business of occassionally breeding angora rabbits, and selling their wool to local spinners. He also began showing his rabbits at breeder shows, and having a good time with that. He even tried dating a few times, but had yet to really find the right person. And with his job, he managed to save enough to get some quality prosthetics that make it far easier to walk, and even run if he ndded to in a pinch. Many people dont even realize he uses them with how much more fluid his walking is now.
One day, he went on a trip. First he was going to take his current 4 rabbits to a breeder show that was out of town, then he was going to visit his parents and stay with them for a few days before heading back. So Atledge packed up his rabbits, everything they'd need for at least a few weeks, as well as his own various needs. The show had been a success and he came away with a couple first place ribbons, so he was in a fantastic mood as he drove to his parents' home.
That mood was heightened by curiosity however when he realized he was approaching a town he didn't recognise. Little did he know his Wonderland adventure was truly starting now.

Holding a small glass swan to his eyes with a gloved hand, the dragon carefully turned it side to side to examine. Finding no grime or dust, he smiled in satisfaction as he set it back down. A frown briefly flicked across his face as he delicately turned the swan a millimeter, smiling in pleasure once it was back to its former position. He picked up a delicate Ukrainian painted egg next and set to dusting it with the same care he'd shown the swan. His weekly dusting took him a couple hours to complete, but once he was finished he stood back and examined his precious trinkets with vain pride. After fawning over his hoard for a while, Delwyn plucked the cotton gloves off his hands and tucked them in their designated drawer, stepping to the bathroom to examine himself in the mirror. Carefully brushing his hair and checking the trim on his facial hair, the dragon grinned in delighted pleasure. Still such a fine looking specimen.
A chirp from his phone distracted him as he made his way to the kitchen to get a head start on his dinner plans. Frowning as he read the message, Delwyn sighed heavily and turned his path to the front door. His assistant at the funeral home had pleaded with him to come in, despite his day off, to help deal with the relatives of a new arrival.
"Why do some people have to be so damned difficult." He muttered under his breath, perturbed to have his day off cut short. He tucked his glasses into a case in his messenger bag, before throwing on a coat with a flourish. Dapper as ever, the dragon left his house and made his way to work, continuing to mutter under his breath as he did so.
