Fears:
☬ Doctors - He's never been comfortable around them, and after his experience with therapists and such he's developed a dear of being sent back there.
☬ Getting close - By nature he tends to be a loner anyway, but deep down he's still human and because of that, with his past he's scared he'll always ruin my chance he has of being close to people.
Goals:
★ To make his own way of things, living a life he chooses instead of one chosen by others around him. If he goes down, he wants it to be on his terms.
Personality: Maksim doesn't talk much. That doesn't mean he isn't capable, he simply chooses not to in most situations to avoid engagement and to fade into the background more. He's a quiet man, preferring to stick to his careful planning and strategic silent analysis. Maks likes a good plan, and he likes to stick to it as close as possible, with backup plans for most occasions. The two words that probably best describe him are solemn and complex; He's also capable of adapting quickly to changes that come up. But ultimately his downfall is unpredictability. Being a very detail oriented man who functions best when he's got a gameplan in hand, anything that alters that in the moment can throw him off guard most certainly. He prefers to be in control of his situation.
Deep down beneath that cold, calculating, and often intimidating output of his however, he is still human. He's still capable of human emotions and feelings like fear, passion, joy, regret, or even loyalty. Its very very rare indeed, and you're extremely lucky to see it if ever it happens because he frankly doesn't realize he has these offer things half the time, since he more often swallows himself up in the coldblooded tendencies he's grown into and has frankly built up trust issues towards affection in some twisted way. But know that if you are lucky enough to earn his attchment? You're essentially protected for life. You'll always have someone to call in a time of need and he will never leave you, provided you to give him reason to.
Do bear this in mind though: Maksim is not a mentally stable person. Much as he is capable of things such as playing the average man and making you believe whatever is necessary for his agenda, that is not who he is. I said complex for a reason--One minute he may be fine, and decievingly gentle but if you set off the wrong nerve, he can and wil flip aswitchupstairs and you will likely be in some serious trouble to say the least. On the Job? But if a dfferent story, he's focused on the and the job alone pretty much, but outside of that? Proceed at your own caution around this one, there's no rulebook to what all might set him off, but being a pureblooded Russian, respect is a big thing for him. So long as you're respectful, careful, and mind your own you should pretty much be safe.

History:
Maksim was born in 1988 to Yelena and Aleksei Ivanov, as their youngest of 4 children. From a very young age, Maks was known to be unusually calm and quiet. When he was born he hadn't even screamed or cried much, beyond a few whimpers. As a toddler his parents worried for his quietude, for even if he was fully capable of speaking and, admittedly rather advanced in his vocal clarity when he did speak, there were simply times when their youngest son just seemed too quiet. Yet when taken to the doctor, they found nothing seemingly wrong with him.
A child like Maksim was often bullied for his silent trait whether by his elder brothers or his schoolmates; yet he never seemed too bothered by it. Most of the time he merely ignored them, far too busy with keeping up his studies to ace his classes; or the comments he did make left the bullies dumbfounded in offended shock. Maks seemed to be overly attentive, afterall, discovering things people didn't realize he was paying attention to and in some occasions that was the asset he used to save himself from further annoyance. If ever he were sent to the principal's office for anything, which wasn't often at all, he complied quietly and politely, no matter how annoying the reason or how much he wanted to get back at them all.but that would be how he'd cope later, jotting down the ways he'd like to hurt them and noting how to do so properly and what to avoid even of he would never act on it.
The habit only grew as he got older, and when he was 12, while home alone with his brothers one day, he had finally struck a final straw. Maksim then set up an electrical fire in the house that would end up gutting most of the house. Only one of his brothers was killed in the fire, and the other two were severely injured from the burns and smoke inhalation. Maks took in some smoke himself in the process, and had been left a few burns on himself to make a cover story but he otherwise came out unscathed and disappointed his work hadn't gotten all three. It wasn't the last time he'd ever do something like that however, because a couple years later at the age of 16 he'd racked up a few occurrences of non-severe injuries to other students and had tried to smother one of his brothers in his sleep. Soon after he was taken to a psychiatrist to check on him and while he mostly had seemed just fine, his parents were given the note that he had some budding mental issues.
Yet somehow that warning wasn't enough. They'd started therapist sessions for Maks, but he wasn't pleased with it much at all. Some time after, perhaps a year or two, Maksim devised a way to get rid of his parents to make the therapy stop, because they wouldn't listen when he tried to tell him he didn't like it there. Aleksei was killed in a T-boned collision on a grocery run one afternoon due to failed brakes that Maks had cut the night before, and his mother was drowned in the bathtub; one of his elder brothers came in to pull him off of Yelena but it was too late. And it wouldn't be until later that night that Maksim would have been found breaking down crying in his room, the overwhelm taking over as he realized what he'd done…he didn't understand really why he'd done it, he knew what he wanted, he simply didn't know why this was his chosen method.
Not long after, the boy was checked into a mental institution until he was about 21, when he was deemed healthy enough to leave. It wasn't long until he'd been recruited into an organization that would turn out to train him to become a killer, and ultimately control himself better. Becoming an FSB (Federal Security Service) agent turned him into, essentially, the man he is today, and he would go on to complete many missions with an efficiency rate that gave him a reputation with a name within the agency: the Silent Knight. He certainly was very good at what he did, and he liked the job. He wouldn't have left, frankly, if it weren't for 8 years ago when he encuntered his first unprepared experience. The target he'd been sent to take care of was no ordinary human, this time, unbeknownst to him. Instead, none of his methods were effective. Bullets didn't do anything, knives had no success. These things were useless against the vampire he would later find out it was. It was an ugly fight that got him kidnapped, and he was lucky to escape withhis life after all of that. By nothing but sheer instinct he found a way to behead the thing and escape, only by then he'd been classified as MIA, presumed dead. Whatever efforts to find him they'd made, it seems they proved fruitless but nonetheless he used this opportunity to do something new with his life. Since then he's started working as an assassin for hire, taking jobs where and when he can when he isn't hunting the supernatural, which he has been studying ever since his final FSB assignment and specializes particularly in vampires now.

There may be a certain irony that came with the song playing through the speakers, turned up enough to be heard over the wind coming through the open windows but Sarah was oblivious to it. The blonde sang each word right along with the music as KISS's 1984 hit Heaven's on Fire played from the cassette she'd picked for this particular drive. She wasn't in the mood for relying on her music app, nor did she want to station surf, and this? This was hitting the spot. It was definitely a pick-me-up that she could never say no to, and with the job she was going into? She was probably going to need whatever lucky feeling that tape deck could offer her. Not to say that she wasn't a good hunter, because she was, but the headline she'd followed was of victims being drained of all the blood on their body. Now, at first glance yes that sounded like an average job.
But she was in for it, she simply had yet to discover that fact. Regardless, Sarah parked her car outside the home of the first witness she'd tracked down, to get a firsthand story from them. Taking one last glance over the newspaper clipping she'd printed out and the address she'd written down, one glance up towards the house number was all that stood between her getting out of the car and nudging it's door closed after a moment.
"If I had half the money these fuckers must be rolling in..." She muttered to herself, snorting lightly as she shook her head before heading up the path to the front door. It was certainly a very nice house, at least nicer than she could ever afford, hell they even had a sprinkler system in the front yard. The epitomy of suburbia in her minds eye. But with her knuckles connecting with the door in a short knock that was just gentle enough to be distinguished from a cop knock, considering she was going with the journalist cover, the spunky blonde pushed down her judgement for the moment in favor of a friendly smile when the home owner opened the door. "Can I help you?" Came the man's response and Sarah, recognizing the slight tiredness of loss in his voice, let her gaze soften a bit.
"Apologies sir, I don't mean to trouble ya. I uh..I heard what happened, and I'm very sorry for your loss. My boss at the Daily is pushing for this story, though...of you wouldn't mind answering a question or two?" Play the sympathy card. Displace the image of being the asshole. It tended to work, not that she didn't care, because deep down she did; it was the reason she'd showed up to look into the case in the first place. But the strategy was there nonetheless, subtle as it was, and much to her favor, it was successful.
A few minutes later the woman was leaving again, a small wave and polite smile in place as she took her leave with a sympathetic goodbye before she was sliding back into her car letting the smile turn onto a slow exhale as she shut the car door. "Well then. Time to hit the books or peek at the morgue." Talking to herself as a way of thinking aloud, her key found the ignition bringing the engine to life and she leaned back in her seat with the decision made up in her mind. "Books it is, Google the shit out of this before somebody calls me an occultist....even if they technically wouldn't be wrong."
Snorting at the thought, she shook her head with a smirk and put the 1970 Duster into gear, pulling onto the road more with her motel room as her destination this time, humming along with her mixtapes yet again. And well….maybe a stop at the nearest burger joint wouldn’t hurt either, because who says coffee and something greasy isn’t the best brain food?
