He got kicked out of his home by his family when he was a teenager, getting used to living on the streets which is what made him resort to robbery to be able to survive. They bonded over sharing their stories, spending the night talking inside of Reagan’s car to avoid the cold.
Every day was a thrill, different and new to both of them and they got caught in that exciting world so much that little by little, nothing mattered other than them. They started forgetting about their moral compass as long as they could keep each other safe, as long as they kept that adrenaline that was like gasoline to their engine. And as it usually happens, one thing led to the other and Reagan ended up getting pregnant. And there was one problem with that: it was not part of the plan.
David and Reagan got separated during the heist and he got caught. Ray, however, never saw what happened to him and assumed that the man had decided he wanted to take off without her, after thinking it over, choosing not to be a part of their kid’s life, or hers. To this day, she doesn’t know what happened to him. The truth is, he hadn’t left but simply couldn’t find her, and much like her, David has no idea of what made Reagan move on with her life without him.

When Odette was younger, her family got attacked by two hunters, the very same ones that later on adopted her. She doesn’t remember about her family due to memory loss after the events, and so never even tried to find Jacob due to this. However, he never stopped trying to find his little sister, not being able to do so mostly because she kept traveling from one country to the other which made it very hard for anyone to track her whereabouts. Since he wasn’t big on social media, that was also not a way for him to communicate with her.
What made things worse is that he ended up on an island that he couldn’t escape, ending up as the bartender of the tavern there, never knowing what happened to Odette.

Who is he?: Madelyn Bartlett’s brother
Benjamin Bartlett is the middle child of the three Bartlett siblings. He was born in Versailles, France. He moved to the United States with his family in 1854, when he was 4 years old, starting a new life living at a farm, a quiet life trying not to get too involved with the wards and everything else that was happening in the world at that time. For the next 6 years, he was able to enjoy a nice family-centered life, staying out of trouble and learning about both French and American cultures from his parents, who didn’t want their children to forget where they came from. But in the year 1860, his father decided to go to war in Kansas, which was the first time he saw his family separated, his father figure gone; and he never came back. The death of his father left a very deep wound in Benjamin’s heart because he was very close to him. He became secluded and quieter, and even if he still loved his siblings and mother dearly, he distanced himself from them because he wasn’t able to fully process the loss of such an important person in his life.
In time, he was able to go back to who he used to be, still with a rather calm personality and always more willing to listen to others. The fear of losing his family still remained, so when Elijah decided to go to war when WWI came around, those flashbacks from his past came back. This time though, he became protective of his own instead, convincing him–with the help of their mother- to stay home instead. Benjamin took care of his mother and sister as much as he could. But that changed a couple of decades later.
After the interwar period, WWII ended up dragging the US into the conflict and this time, Benjamin was the one who enlisted. He considered himself as American as they come, and so despite his previous attitude towards his brother’s wishes and her mother’s pleas, he left to fight for the three great Allied powers. He parted ways with his family with promises to come back unharmed, but to this day, they haven’t seen each other again.

Who is he?: Madelyn Bartlett’s brother
Elijah is the eldest of the three Bartlett siblings. As such he was the one who took on more responsibilities when their father died. He was seven years old when they moved from France to the United States, and so he had a bit of trouble adapting; once he did, though, he fully embraced their new country, proud of all the advances and improvements they were making as time went by.
After their father died, he was the one who helped their mother teach both his siblings about their powers: how to use them, control them, and also how to keep feeding so they wouldn’t lose control at any time given.
Following his father’s steps, when WWI started Elijah decided he wanted to enlist, even if the US wasn’t involved. France had been dragged into it as a part of the Triple Entente powers allied against the Central Powers. But despite his want to go fight for the country where he’d been born, his mother convinced him to stay because they didn’t want to maybe lose another family member, and Elijah tended to be more on the reckless side.
To his surprise, it was Benjamin who ended up going to war 20 years later, and after that, he became the one who tried to take care of the remaining family. Their mother was devastated when Ben didn’t come back even after the war ended, not knowing what had happened to him, and Maddie, who had always been very close to both her brothers ended up leaving because she simply couldn’t take it, not their situation nor the secluded life they were living. He still stayed in contact, and never stopped caring and eventually, he too moved on to live his life.
